I watched Part 1 and 2. I think cherry tree is a little weaker than azalea. So, you have good skill of cutting because it is difficult to cut cherry tree. Thank you very much. Thank you for sharing.

Thank you for your visit to watch these videos. I am very happy with your feed back on the comparison between Cherry trees, Azaleas and my skills. It is now six years since I started to Bonsai and am still learning and seeking continuous improvement, Japanese word is Kaizen.

This guy is Japanese, owns and runs a bonsai nursery in Japan. For me this is one of the best comment on my skills I have had since I started. I am blown away by what he said. Thanks for your thoughts too.

Here looking for info on my fuji cherry :D Theres seems to be conflicting info on the internet about when to prune, most say just after the blossom, but before the leaves come in, yet yours in in full leaf 🤷‍♂️ its now april 1st, in full bloom and starting to leaf beneath the blossom....so is now about the right time?

After the bloom is fine, also when the tree starts to or is in leaf. Its growing season and that is what matters when pruning.

Hi Iqbal ,just watched your Fuji cherry video again and have decided to get one myself. When is the best time to prune ? Cheers

Hi Gary, Thanks for watching again and I am delighted that you are inspired to have one your self. Some supermarkets are selling them at very low price, as there is a glut, resulting over production and low demand. So grab your self one now as next year the producers will have cut back and prices will rocket again. It will come in black plastic pot and you can repot it into a bonsai pot. I tend to prune the branches after it has finished flowering.

Hi Anita, Great to hear from you. I decided to try and include a bit of British humour, which can be a bit dry for some, in my videos and the feed back has been good so I am making that a feature and its unique to me as one else does it. Best wishes and a hug Iqbal

Hi I’m so new to Bonsai I just reported my plants to my homemade bonsai pot here in Las Vegas USA it’s been a week now since I reported my plants one of my plants got shock because I see leaves drop ...it’s a Dwarf Mock Orange it gets sun like 5 to 6 hours I hope they get fine from shock I still got two weeks

Hello Jonark, I have been to Vegas many times and it does get very hot. If it is warm now, then place the repotted trees in complete shade for three weeks. Also pay attention to watering, ensuring if it is hot, you water twice, otherwise once in the evening. Full shade and watering gives the pruned roots a chance to recover and grow new feeder roots. During this period do not fertilise or give it any kind of feed, as it would damage the cut ends of the roots. Let me know in three weeks how your trees are doing. Thank you for your visit, my channel would be perfect for you as I cater for beginners and intermediates in bonsai. If you have not yet subscribed, please do and also click the bell icon to receive notifications of my new videos. I look forward to seeing more of your visits and comments. Warm regards from London IK

Hi Iqbal, after watching part one of this tree I went to a garden centre and managed to find a lovely but totally overgrown little Fuji Cherry tree. It has great character but I wanted your opinion on when would be best to give it a good pruning? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks, She.

Repoting it into a bonsai pot in the spring is a very good time as the trees are coming out of dormancy. For pruning , it is best done in Summer and you can also thin out the unwanted branches. May would be a good time. For wiring, its best done when the tree is in dormancy, November time. Thereafter keep an eye on the wired branches when the tree starts to come out of dormancy and starts to grow, would be the time to remove the wires otherwise as the branches grow, the wire will dig into them and leave very ugly marks. If you have some experience with bonsai, the process can speed up as I have done in these two videos. Goo luck with your Fuji Cherry, Enjoy the flowers and Prune in May after its finished flowering.
