Thank you for your video.KOJO-NO-MAI 湖上の舞 湖 KO means Lake. 上 JO means on and up. の NO means of. 舞 MAI means traditional dance. If I translate KONO-NO-MAI, that means like a ,,,,,, cherry blossom is dancing on the lake. There is a lake near Mt Fuji where cherry blossom is dancing, seeing Mt Fuji. I imagine the scenery of Mt Fuji and cherry.

Thank you for such detailed explanation and translation from Japanese to English. I did see Mt Fuji in April last year, My trip was memorable, it was cherry blossom season. Visited many places, towns and cities including Fukushima and the mountains with their glorious colours of blossom.

Thanks Nigel, still a bit nervous in case I remove more than I should, thus killing the tree ! as I tend to repot through out the year and not just in the spring.

Today I have taken a good thrashing on fb from a number UK bonsai experts for the drastic root prune. I am told I should stick to convention. I don't go as far as you do, just a matter of practice and time and I will shock these guys. hahaha they want me to be a cookie cutter like them or do they have some other motive ? Your thoughts Nigel ?

I think it is the only way to get an outstanding root system on your tree. The roots are near the top of the soil surface after a good root prune, so it is important to keep the upper layer of the soil watered until the roots begin to grow down deeper in the pot. I mist mine with a spray bottle at least twice a day for the first few weeks. Many bonsai "experts" never experiment enough or have tried enough different techniques to even form an opinion on the subject. I have heard every story in the book on why I shouldn't do what I do with my trees roots, yet my roots continue to get better and better with each potting. Strangely my trees aren't dying either! Any change to traditional techniques is usually met with criticism, but hopefully good results will win a few people over!

Thank you for getting back. I too take extra care for at least three weeks after the repot. I have just been having a discussion on one of my fb posts. I gave him examples of the Walter Pall thinking not to become a cookie cutter. Also styling by guest experts at the Bonsai without Boarders event and their results. I also pointed out that my channel was started to record my work and keep my videos some where and YT was the solution. I also explained that i was surprised when people started following me and commenting on my videos etc. They had an agenda, which has now come out in a response to my reply to his comment "you have a huge following but not enough experience" . Says it all, effectively the grapes are sour. Thanks for your help and support.

+mikbonsai,, Let me say, I like both of you gentleman's work and care to your plants. The hours of dedication is amazing and the trees love it; I sure of that!!🌻🌱🌻🌻also, just a note: making the videos is not an easy task either... So I thank both of the two birds with one stone. One swell swoop of thanks-- I'll keep watching as long as you keep posting, I learn a lot about the art of the plant. 💐

Thanks a lot for your email. I am very much new to bonsai and i am very confused about lots of things. But mainly is, when is the perfect time to start training a tree as bonsai? I got a tree tht i guess was about 8 months old and 1 metre high. Cut it all the wy to about 12 cm and cut the roots as well. I had like 5 min roots between 2 nd 3 inches each. Pot it in a bonsai pot and bunsi soil. Its been 10 days already and i guess the plant is not gonna make it. I have few plants that are yung nd i wnt to bonsi but dont want to kill them :( .

I recently bought the same tree in same size in a nursery but didn’t repot it yet. You cut a lot (most) of the roots , how did the tree take it? I’m always afraid of cutting so much of the roots

Bought one today as managed out a little, £10.99 decent size, will attack and repot it today but firstly wanted to watch your videos again, I hope you are well buddy and to catch up at some point soon, I’ve also had some things going on sorry, take care

Hey Rob, I hope you succeeded with the little tree. Its been a horrible year, Health issues, son dying, and last month my sister died. \Had more health issues with my ankle, its been on going for ten weeks and still not out of the woods. Desperately trying to get back on again and bad things keep on happening. Last Monday in broad day light in the afternoon I was at home and there was an attempted break in, my door was smashed in and yesterday This guy walked into my office and stole my mobile phone while speaking in Spanish and waving his hands around to distract us and placed some papers on my desk, when he picked up the papers he also took the phone. After the doctors appointment have to go and buy another one. I do hope to start making videos again and the start was to return to my channel and answer to comments and questions, Cheers buddy hope to catch up soon in fb chat, Take care Rob. Best wishes Iqbal

Can this plant be found in Texas?
@mikbonsai8 жыл бұрын
Fuji cherry trees are imports from Japan. Please see the comment from Bonsai & Killifish from Japan, he has explained the english translation from the Japanese name. These trees are imports from Japan and I am sure you will be able to find a nursery in Texas which has them. It may take some time to find them, and if you are lucky it will be quick. Also if you find some one has these trees, you can take cutting and grow from cuttings. Another good tree to grow as bonsai is the Portulacaria Afra also known as Jade. As you live in Texas, the weather is ideal for it |I have worked on a few of these and here's a link to one of the latest I worked on : goo.gl/yGA0u7 You should be able to find this tree as well from a garden centre or again take a cutting from some one who has such a tree and grow from cuttings. Let me kow how you get on with your searches. Best wishes Iqbal London UK
