This my journey as a "GiGi", when my daughter & son in law are in denial 😭 my grandson is 2. I call him my blessing, I am blessed to watch him 3-4 days a WK overnight stays. I have been working with him on his speech, he is teaching me to help him understand the world he lives in. He has learned to say his ABCs, count to 10, he knows colors (basic colors). Makes my heart so happy❤️ I gave him an apple the other day, he now says apple when eating it🙏 I'm old school, no I pads, nor phones. It's all flash cards, he can look at a flash card & tell me what it is. I show him a bee, he says bee, a worm. He is so determined as I make it fun for him to learn, & he is learning because he is having fun❤️ The biggest accomplishment for me will be for him to try other foods besides the same old. He is all about textures, when I give him a new food, I let him stick his fingers in it, then puts it in his mouth. If he likes it I help him use his spoon or fork to eat, he will eat a lot more of different foods, if I make it a crunchy texture. Any advice or is there something that you parents do to help with foods? In my opinion it's been harder for foods, than it is teaching him words & speech. I wanted to also mention he does make a lot of eye contact, he loves his bath time, & he loves to cuddle with me as I put him to sleep at night❤️ the lights use to bother him before bed, now the TV is on, the lamps are on, I hold him & message his feet & gently rub his head, no weighted blanket anymore!!! He is my blessing & this is our story. There is a book out called "Autism & God's Connection"...he is learning because I have that special connection with him, I am very blessed 🙏❤️ he has taught me so much. He brings me so much happiness ❤️ Our connection is beyond anything anyone will ever understand 🙏❤️ God Bless each & everyone of you❤️ Last words.....they are NOT trying or wanting to be anyone else but who God wanted them to be❤️🙏 As you can tell the outside world, many people are literally changing themselves, thinking it's a better way of life. My grandson doesn't have a care in the world of what others think of him, nor do I. The heart defines him & I❤️ We are living our best life & I wouldn't trade it for the world ❤️

Great series. We take speech for granted and its not on the radar when you imagine being a parent.

I just started to watch you. After my son got diagnosed with autism. I’m curious does your son do speech therapy or early intervention in your state?

@kristensNDlifereminds me of my baby he regressed a lot before 2 now all he does is jump around and sings no actual word but understands instructions but doesn’t show any interest in learning and can’t look you in the eyes.
