Pemindahan Ibu Kota Indonesia sudah direncanakan sejak lama, Karena Kondisi Jakarta sangat tidak stabil. Jakarta terlalu padat, kumuh, banjir, macet, transportasi publik buruk, dst. Namun baru sekarang bisa dilakukan karena Indonesia selama ini adalah negara miskin (tidak punya uang) Sejak tahun 2005 hingga sekarang pertumbuhan ekonomi Indonesia terus membaik dan tumbuh ekponesial Sehingga inilah momen yang tepat untuk memindahkan Ibu Kota (Karena sudah mulai punya uang) Mengapa memilih Nusantara, area hutan kosong untuk menjadi lokasinya? Ide pertama pindah saja ke kota yang sudah ada seperti "Balikpapan/Samarinda/Makasar" yang lokasinya ditengah Indonesia dan aman dari ancaman gempa/letusan gunung. Tetapi akan sulit membangun area vital seperti pusat pertahanan dan lokasi strategis lainnya sebagai pusat simbol negara besar. Sehingga lebih baik memilih area kosong/hutan dan dibangun semua dari awal. "Apakah ini mungkin sukses?." I live in West Kalimantan, Kalimantan is far behind the other islands in Indonesia because the development mostly occurs in Java island. The governments take our resources and brings most of the money to build Java. We want our future too, we also lacked in public transportation like bus to go anywhere in our city so we have to use our own vehicles and it makes traffic jam and the underdeveloped roads make it worse. Even my hometown which is only 2 hours from the capital city of West Kalimantan doesn't has electricity yet so we have to use generator and the road hasn't been tarmaced ! So I really hope our new Capital City wont just be the central government, but also a lot of investment for the transportation, roads, living quality, new cities, etc for the Kalimantan people.

Today we saw the 79th indonesia independence day celebration held at the new Nusantara capital city , one milestone achieved and sure the president successor will continue the next phase of construction. The idea of relocating the Indonesia capital city begins way before the independence day and the actual planning of relocating the capital from Jakarta to Kalimantan was sounded by our founding father Sukarno. Jakarta city now is so crowded both as commercial and governmental city often suffered by natural disaster as flooding. Having Nusantara as new capital environment-friendly city surely provide some opportunities likes of decentralized infrastructures, distribution of resources and wealth etc . I am living in Jakarta and would love to see the completion the whole project by 2045 of course with strong political will of the next governement.

With good connectivity with other cities and good and thorough planning, this city will not become a ghost town. Just want to add that the "jungle" has already cut down decade ago to make way for tree plantion (similar to palm plantion instead it's producing timber), now they are replacing it for a forest city concept which is technically reforestation? The designer had a ted talk explaining it, sofian sibarani, but the video shown is old... it wqs when the city was planned much closer to the coast, now its more uphill. Basically less changing of the natural landscape and like indonesian traditional houses on stilts, hence the elevated platforms. Shau won that but the winner were two, so they planned to combined some elements of their designs. Shau also designed other stuff in the new capital. Theres also less publicised legislative buildings and judicial building.

The exact location chosen to build the entire complex of presidential palace and new city around it is not actually by cutting down a natural rainforest, but a land owned by state owned agribusiness company, and this land only had one species of plant which is eucalyptus for paper industry, so it's a monoculture artificial forrest, not a natural rainforest. When the government building the new capital all the eucalyptus will be cut down and change it by planting new trees with endemic species of plants, or you can call it reforestation to the original condition like before.

As Indonesian my self.. Imo Nusantara is great economically.. Massive corporation will move out to IKN, because its basically more structured than Jakarta. What I mean by that is that moving from your office to other places maybe meetings with other business man is like a hard task to do knowing how wild the traffic is. The thing is that we reall are still mostly powered by coal.. which is very destructive to the enviroment.. and the indigenous people need atleast a place to live. Yeah its a massive chunk of land owned by Prabowo's brother its still their living place.. atleast help them to move out with compensation earlier would be easier and better to deal with.. The heart of the nation business should be spreaded across the java island so that jakarta population could potentially be spreaded across java island. and also on the rural areas like villages, small cities should having a better or having a major constructions so people could live properly good and happily. for the trash waste and dump waste should be constructed like Singapore (they can recycle all of their trash into a kinetic air energy through the city.). for the economy, IN FACT SO MANY GOVERMENT INDIVIDUALS ARE CORRUPTING THE NATIONAL ECONOMY, like they only care about it rather than caring to the people. by building the "NUSANTARA" as the NEW CITY and NEW CAPITAL was necessary due to the most polluted city in the world (JAKARTA) and also THE SINKING ISSUES OVER DECADES.

yes it is. I live in east borneo, also next to nusantara. I went to a lot of villages in east and north borneo, and have a lot of conversation with any of indegenious people here. yes they all need some changes to development. and this nusantara was a huge chance for us. we do contribute a lot of things to build this city.

Throughout the first 10 minutes I was surprised you keep talking about the positive points only. I was anticipating a lot of criticism since this megaproject has already invite many heated discussion among us Indonesian. But it turns out very well in the end of the video. Moving our capital is definitely necessary. Jakarta collapsing at visible speed and huge imbalance of development between islands, Kalimantan has been eyed since the beginning of our country's founding. I hope that moving the capital right at the heart of Indonesia can alleviate most of existing issues and catalyze more equality and economic growth.

Another Malaysia state has also recently rose economically in Borneo which is Sarawak. A $29 billion 4-lane highway has been built through out Sabah and Sarawak called the Pan-Borneo Highway. If Nusantara is what it claims to be, we will see a booming change in Borneo in the next decade.
