ProTech Don Auto: Italian Coolness
ProTech is a small knife company Hq'd in Artesia, CA and all their blades are of course 100% pure American goodness. They produce small quantities of high end autos, many reviewed and beloved here.
The more special Godfather series will anchor this review however. It was a formative auto for me personally, acquired before TNP. You'll see two versions of it as we consider a similar blade, the ProTech "Don Auto". TD helps out with the review and adds hilarity as usual.
This Italian inspired design has those elements but is much high quality, faster, and cooler than any European switchblade I've seen (and I've owned several). The price is kind of up there but the knife will hold its value and that's the cost for American made. Also consider the value price GODSON, the smaller version of The Godfather. These are lightweight very cool collectibles and come in at a low price point.
ProTech Don Auto: shrsl.com/29mb8
ProTech GODFATHER, it's back, what?: shrsl.com/29mbw
ProTech Godson: shrsl.com/29mba
Piranha Pocket Model 1 (P-1), oh so right: shrsl.com/29mjp
Too pricey? Then these highly rec'd and used knives in TNP will fill the bill:
AKC F16 OTF: shrsl.com/1y7yp
AKC ACE Xtreme: shrsl.com/1y7ys
Lightning OTF knives: shrsl.com/201x8

TNP Patreon is where the action is! Lots more videos and action over there...never too late to join and support the workload: www.patreon.com/Nutnfancy. Here's just some of the comments from TNP Patrons on this video that was posted over there earlier: "RowdyRon Yo Nutn! Such a cool knife. I wish it had a little more of a traction plan though. You referenced the "Pocket Model 1" in your description. I think you were referring to the Piranha Pocket Model 1? I got one of those (marble green) years ago based upon your review. I also have the ProTech TR-3. Great knife, but the handle is a little short. Thanks Nutn! 2d The Nutnfancy Project Right Piranha made that one, thanks for the correction! They are awesome! 1 2d Adam Boyd 2 Krvs toda! And it's not even my birthday! Thanks Nutn 👍 1 2d Todd Strelka Thanks for sharing the sexy knife reviews. Dang those autos are nice. I like the double hand guard. It looks like a hilt of a sword or dagger. LOL, TD is the "fruit of your loins". Great video as always. 2d The Nutnfancy Project Todd! Thanks dude 1 2d David Goodridge Oh my those are sweet 2d Pvt_Schmuckatelli Love the tabletop decor in this KRV. While I never got a ride in one, I saw many of the V-22 Ospreys flying around Camp Lejeune back in the day when they were testing the aircraft. They didn't start deploying the Ospreys for operational use until 2005 (same year I EAS'd). I wouldn't mind seeing some more USMC aircraft on the tabletop from time to time. Semper Fi 2d The Nutnfancy Project Copy. USMC aircraft will be shown more...I got a sweet AV8B that's featured 1 2d Doug Irelan Sometime ago I commented in a TNP KRV “Pro-Tech Don?”. You recommended it referring to your Godfather. I looked to buy one but couldn’t find one in stock that I really liked. I’m picky with the high price. Still looking. Then a year ago Kershaw came out with the Launch 8 Auto. Made in USA, 3.5” CPM 154 stonewashed blade, gray anodized aluminum handle with carbon fiber insert, 2.4 oz, $99.95. Its a winner and fun to rotate carry as 2nd or 3rd option more to show off than use. BTW I have the same Microtech Socom Elite Auto 06/2019 with an orange handle. 2d The Nutnfancy Project Great choice in blades there Doug, the Launch 8 is xlnt. And the Socom in orange is insanely cool...jealous! 2d john milochis Nice I like 😀 2d Brandon Avery Is Edge Apex Pro still nutnfancy's number one choice for sharpening? 2 2d Tacticaldoodle So far. It's worked well enough I haven't ever heard him looking to change systems around. I still think it's freakin' expensive, but there are....uh...similar options available. It'd be like changing out the fave. gun oil, if the stock one now is working fine it's not a pressing need to mix things up. 1d Jonathan Simon Pro-Tech is a great knife company. I picked up a Strider PT back in OCT...definitely kicks a lot of other blades out of my pocket in the rotation cycle. 2d Afonso Garcia Link to the Parnis please 1 1d Joe Yes! I tried to find one but couldn't"

Blake G. I carry all my knives. What’s the point otherwise. I may not sit down and do a week worth of recycling with 1000$ knives but knifes just look silly unless they have a warn clip and a few scratches. Steel is so good these days there’s nothing wrong with carrying and sharing your expensive knives. Share the love.

I would ABSOLUTELY use not just this, but ANY knife I buy. Whats the point of having something only to not use it. I have a $3500 a custom made deal, and carry it time to time, this is much less than the other. I want the "tuxedo" versions of the ProTech's just something ELSE always comes up bumping that purchase down in priority...

I beat on a couple of my microtech's at lest. It's hard doing these when it's only 1 of 25, and even back in 2009 there were people making offers to buy them that were very enticing. After one use with a little apparent wear you feel fine using it a lot more. It's that first scratch that hurts the most! -Doodle

Nutn, Please do a review of the Tavor 7 .308. It's super short with a full rifles length barrel. Reliability has been proven from the Tavor/X95 System. Bullups have naturally heavy, but running .308 It isn't much heavier than an AR-10. Everyone's worried though., the X95/Tavor didn't have the best groups, you could provide an answer for ALOT of people's systems but running it and just simply seeing how it does, the Nutnfancy way.

I have a few of them but I won't carry them only because I have had them open in my pocket and came very close to bleeding a lot because the tip is up so when it opens an inch in your pocket, it will be pointed at your fingers when you reach into your pocket. It could have easily stabbed and cut the heck out of fingers, right to the bone so easy with a blade this sharp and thin, cutting an artery would be a disaster if I was on a road trip. The good news, I stopped carrying these knives before any accidents happened, I don't know why no one else has had this problem because I don't carry my lives any strange way, I never go out the door without at least a knife or two and no other designs have given me a scare like these Protech knives. It's such a shame because they look so nice, I would like to use them, but, I have dozens of others to pick from, I'm a sick one with collecting knives. I wouldn't say don't buy one, I would say don't carry one in you pocket. They need to install a safety like some of my other knives have. The funny thing is, those knives I own with a safety, don't need one, but these sure do. I have 8 Protech lives and I love the way they open so fast, if you want one, get it, but it's for collecting only. Personally, I use all my knives but I don't abuse them, I have other knives for beating up while working. I think it's bad luck to not use fine knife. Everything should be used if possible.

Not sure if you could find any for somewhat cheap. We don't really use it or research much since the few times we hear about them they're ridiculous. ATF won't let you buy it anyway unless you're in their approved club/faction lists, so it's mostly a wash. They even ruined cheaper green-tip ammo. It sucks, I'm sure there are guys out there really into it but I can hardly afford real ammo, much less convince NF to drop $1.15 per! AFAIK he doesn't have anything specifically AP on hand either, though sometimes a funky tracer or something ends up in the orphans pile. -Doodle
