Biochemically 100 cal from carrots is not the same as 100 cal from a Coke. They are biochemically different in their composition and the interaction with our digestive system is different. They might have the same "caloric value" when looked through a physics lens of the definition of a Calorie as a unit of measurement (the amount of energy required to raise the temperature of 1ml of water by 1 degree)

I don't have any energy. So I'm back to eating WFPB. At least you admit you have no clue when it comes to exercise and diet. That explains why you're a vegan. Good luck Doc, you probably look emaciated and 20 years older than your age like Dr. greger. FYI, not being a fat slob doesn't make anyone an expert on health and exercise. I'd love to see how fit you actually are Mr. Expert Doctor. Keep in mind muscle mass almost directly correlates to overall all cause mortality. I can't wait till the day you realize you've been betrayed by your smug dietary choice. You're probably a vegan who cycles, runs or invests most of his time in some sort or steady state cardio that allows you to deceive yourself into thinking you're fit when in fa t you're wasting away. Also, you're a frigging psychiatrist lololol, I wouldn't expect you to get actually training or education on physical fitness and diet. You were being a little disingenuous referring to yourself as a doctor in that context. I'm sure an actual physician receives a little more education in this regard, whilst you're reading Frued and Jung. Oh and I was wrong you aren't skinny, you're kinda doughy. Makes sense you still feel good as a vegan, you have the fat storages in place still to not notice the damage you're doing to your body and overall health. Give it a cpl years lol.

I saw it on the scale today and I was like wow. That is awesome but I wonder if it is too low. Sad that I'm worrying about being too lite vs all the obesity out there. I thank god for all the valid information out there. I started whole food plant based to reduce my cancer risk as my dad died of prostate and bone cancer. Also he lost his mind in the process. That scared me to death. I researched and thank goodness Dr Greger and so many other doctors/people are seeing this information. Keep it up dr Greger. Funny thing my wife says when we are in bed it feels weird because she feels like she is sleeping with a kid. I wish she would see how she could do the same thing. Hi Dr Greger, I am from NZ so it was really neat to hear about the people that did SO well in Gisborne. That aside, I find your information has a huge impact on me-both in learning and motivating. Currently waiting for your book HOW NOT TO DIE to arrive in post. Your second book, I am.wanting to order-HOW....DIET. I have dropped 4kgs effortlessly and more importantly, healthily. Love my new way of eating and how much more tasty my food is-my garden is almost my best friend hahaha. Thank you !

Wow. This is the next-level mode of doing a presentation. May it become a standard. My (testable) prediction(s): How Not To Diet becomes a bestseller and talked about a lot, and people become even more interested in this practical advice than that in How Not To Die (since seemingly people care more about appearances than health, that is until a disease hits them hard). 2020 (coupled with the nutrition guidelines that are likely to be significantly more WFPB, as well as the The Game Changers aftermath) is gonna be a milestone.

Over fed and malnourished. Other countries with lack of processed/big food stores but access to farms/plants underfed (by western standards) but ironically better nourished. I’m aware there’s exceptions with both and poor areas globally with lack of food and nutrition.

Red Pill Vegan the backlash about the gamechangers will remain hilarious. I challenged the most famous dietician in Belgium to a debate on twitter yesterday because she claimed a vegan diet is inferior to a vegetarian one for athletes and that the documentary is based on pseudo science. (She worked with multiple Olympic medallists.) I don’t like people disrespecting Dean Ornish, he is saving lives by the minute...

Dr. Greger you're one of my plant based heros. I had a chance to meet you at a veg fest in MI. I felt like a teenager meeting a rock star. LOL My husband and I went plant based 3 years ago, we will never go back. My husband is type one diabetic. He is actually a healthy type one diabetic. His A1C is now down to 6.0. His endocrinologist is amazed at how well he is doing. He said he wants to use my husband as his poster child. "What are you doing" he asks my husband. My husband says "I've gone plant based". The conversation falls flat on the floor and the doctor doesn't want to talk about it anymore. One thing we need to get a better handle on is my husband's sugar going low. He is on an insulin pump along with a glucose monitoring sensor. This really has helped a lot also. But I will tell you, the high fiber really changes the amount of insulin he needs to take for a meal. Even adjusting carbohydrate intake, minus fiber intake, we know he needs to go lower on insulin intake. I have your knew How not to Diet book from audible, Love the fact that you record your own books (also purchased How not to Die). I will be purchasing the print book also. Please, keep up the good work, you and your staff. Love you Dr. Greger, keeping you in my prayers.

The key is that eating whole foods only, you can't eat beyond a certain point. Eating whole starches, and other whole vegis, you get satisfied sooner, and don't get hungry again as soon as you do on other plans.
@KiaTheDMVBison3 жыл бұрын
I disagree because people who don’t eat whole food plant based will see that title, not watch the video and simply go eat a bunch of meat, dairy and junk food. You have to think the way THEY think. That’s why they hide behind the phrase “Everything in moderation” to justify their bad eating habits.

Yeah, nobody ever got fat from eating too much broccoli. The problem is the "fat acceptance" movement who tells people they can eat as much chocolate cake as they want.

Incidentally, I stumbled upon him and his videos because I was (am?) considering the Galveston Diet, since I've gained weight--mostly in the middle section--with the onset of menopause. I used to be a distance runner, including one Boston Marathon, but my knees and gut no longer like a lot, if any at all, road running, so I'm looking for ways to modify my food intake. I've never had to diet, thankfully, but I now better understand many who have struggled regularly with weight. When I was a competitive runner, I ate whatever I wanted--even Dunkin' Donuts after long runs. I was very thin, but I'm not sure how healthy despite the outside appearance. Hoping I find the right mix of exercise and new eating habits this year.

Great info and great fact-based advice (as always). I'm vegan most of the time, but I am prone to bad food binging (like chips/sugar/bread/cheese) once in awhile....Your video's are always so inspiring and help me keep on track - got up and made added apple cider vinegar to my bottle of water - watched some more - got up and made black bean chili from scratch (with dried beans vs. canned ones). Now I just need some motivation to get on my rebounder! Will get the book - read it - highlight it, take notes, then pass it on to my daughter and grand daughter. Thank you for your continued inspiration on my food journey. Vegetarian 30 years - Vegan 6 years

that's a great comment and congratulations on your inspirational food journey : ) just wanted to mention that i actually lost my cravings for things like "chips sugar bread cheese" by incorporating the whole food versions of these things in my diet. like i regularly make my own fat-free chips (both crisps & oven fries) Consequently this dissipates cravings for unhealthy fatty chips. i make a wholegrain bread full of flaxseeds and walnuts and i enjoy it with melty cheeses ive made myself from split lentils or cashews! (recipes from Cooking With Plants or Edgy Veg) Whenever i want sugar, i make a bowl of delicious "cookie dough" using whole dates in place of sugar & blending w/things like silken tofu & chick peas. Once i allowed these healthier alternatives to sugary or greasy foods, in to my regular diet, those previously binge-worthy foods lost their power over me. i actually PREFER my alternatives now.

I've been consuming non-dairy milk for years. I recently bought some shelf-stable oat milk because it was on ridiculously low-priced clearance. I am so happy about this site. It goes along with a basic sense of what is good for us. I had been told by my doctor when I was in my 20's to depend on my motherly instincts and while it was not perfect it has helped me remain as healthy as possible most of my life. I did end up slightly hypertensive this last year but I am 69 years young and I had stopped talking 2 tbls of flax and ground ginger each day.... which considering the fact.that I have never purchased any low fat anything... meant that my pressure increased. Normally I manage to keep my bp numbers went up. I am reintroducing the grinding of flax seed and ginger and will see how it goes. I am sure it will drop back down as before. I like the way your look at life and depend on evidence and not corporations. Thank you for actually caring enough to be honest.
