Do you mean your plant based life? Veganism is a moral stance against the exploitation and murder of animals which has nothing to do with health.

Here's to a healthy 2025. One where our biological ageing progresses at a significantly slower rate than the calendar ageing...

Can you tell us why Dr David Sinclair is an advocate of high levels of NMN daily. He conducts anti aging research and is well known for taking NMN (1000mg a day I think) himself.
@NonchalantWalrusParty2 күн бұрын
He's one of the scientists mentioned that has started his own NMN company and is therefore biased. His research has also been found to be deeply flawed, some say purposely misleading.

i started taking niacinimide for skin cancer risk and i must say it has been a game changes. sleeping through the night for the first time in years. taking it with tmg. anyhow, i do find gregor is generally pretty down on supplements. i haven't looked too much into this data but suspect there's some cherry picking. in the end it's a test of 1. do your own experiments if you can and see. i remember gregor arguing that tretanoin was lethal because of 1 anomalous study despite being widely prescribed for photo aging. i think we need to take gregor with a pinch of salt. some good stuff. some fanciful stuff.
@SkyRiver1Күн бұрын
Niacinimide is not the same as nicotinamide. A synonym for an n of 1 is anecdotal evidence, which is almost meaningless due to many factors, the placebo effect being just one of them. But in general your comment is right on.

Could someone provide a summary of this video?
@DashingPartyCrasherКүн бұрын
He reads through a summary list starting at about 1:07:00 in the video. Basically he says that so far, research does not show hard evidence of any NAD type supplements for longevity. Instead, it's best to reduce daily inflammation by eating a mostly wfpb diet, and getting enough daily sleep and exercise. The same solid advice as in all other nutrition facts videos. 😆

Great video Dr. Gregor, Im not entirely sold on NMN, but I don't think its inheritantly bad either. There are lot of studies going showing both the pros and cons

So fortified flour ie pasta, breads, cakes could predispose one to diabetes?
@DashingPartyCrasherКүн бұрын
Yes! Dr. Gregor and other researchers agree on that. Tons of studies back it up. Instead choose almond flour, coconut flour, or chickpea flour. Even oats, barley or rye is much better than refined wheat, corn or rice flour. I like to mix a few tablespoons of almond flour and ground flax into some chia soaked in soy milk to make a quick post workout pudding. I also add protein powder, banana, and cinnamon.

I learnt all NAD+ precursors did not work the hard way - high homocysteine due to being an under-methylator(MTHFR homozygous). However I am giving NADH a try to see if affects homocysteine since it is metabolized differently and has shown good benefits in the Alzheimers trial. Also taking Apigenin as a supplement, was getting this from parsley previously but would prefer a larger dose. Exercise and to a lesser extent fasting, is likely the safest way for increasing NAD+ throughout the body.
@Len1977gt2 күн бұрын
33:20 maybe, but also our bodies ability to produce NAD is significantly reduced as we get older

Would you rather people not change their opinions and recommendations in the face of strong new evidence? There are plenty of those people.
@SkyRiver12 күн бұрын
@@BotanicalBasil Your comment is an example of ridiculous rhetorical nonsense. The good doctor actually extolled the benefits of nicotinamide so strongly that I purchased and used it. He did not present it as an opinion. Those are the facts. What I would rather, has nothing at all to do with the matter, and your question is just a deflection of what really does matter, the neurological damage done to people who sans his advice, would never have poisoned themselves.
Yep Gregor extolled tge virtues of gooseberry. Just a little bit of it lowered cholesterol and did all these miraculous things. So i started taking it and found out that it was loaded with dangerous substances. He comes out with all these amazing claims and proclaim them as some sort of wonder. Then find out that the highly touted such and such turn out to be dangerous.
@SkyRiver1Күн бұрын
@@grantlawrence611 Dr. Gregor is a very likable guy, I still like him. As do many people as evidence by the many likes that Botanical Basil got with their idiotic remark. However I will never again trust his "facts" regarding diet and supplements without further evidence. People generally are incapable of distinguishing the difference between the primary world and the secondary world as regards their actual significance. The primary world is composed entirely of of the physical aspects of reality, such as the actual physical effects of nicotinamide. The secondary world is composed of things that disappear when nobody is thinking about them, such as BotanicalBasil's remarks about opinions, and what I would "rather". Both Shavite Tantra and the philosopher/mystic Jan Cox have stated that the only difference between a person who has activated expanded awareness (enlightenment) and those who live in the illusory identification of their automatic thought-centric associative world of concepts (the unenlightened) is the ability to make this distinction.

You could do all this science jazz, or just smoke a tobacco pipe, daily and medicinally, like the indigenous cultures of the Americas did, since time immemorial.

@SkyRiver1Күн бұрын
First of all there are no indigenous cultures of the Americas, or anywhere else on earth at this time. We are all an invasive species. Secondly just because the first nations did something for thousands of years means nothing. They also were at continual war with their neighboring tribes for thousands of years. They also tortured captured enemies to death for public entertainment for thousands of years. They also mostly did not even live long enough to see the effects of smoking. They also exploited the environment to the degree of which they were capable, killing off all the big slow animals. Took slaves, brutalized women, etc. etc. . I know this does not fit in with the present Hollywood presentations of them, but grow up, it's just a fantasy.

@@SkyRiver1very valid points! All just like rich white men did in recent centuries. Very few of them lived long enough to die of lung or throat cancer, either.
