3.0 Mercedes Sprinter Limp Mode
In this video I have a 3 Liter Sprinter with a check engine light on and codes P18AE P18AF Throttle Body Problems. The throttle body does not come off without removing the whole mixing chamber. I will show you how to remove the mixing chamber and the throttle body. Let's go check it out.

Thanks for that! My 2011 has a failing water pump, and I believe I have to remove the mixing chamber, alternator, and throttle body to access the bolts. May just be the alternator, but I can't find any decent vid's on an NCV3 water pump replacement.

What's your opinion on the 2018 3.0 excessive soot from EGR causing EGR to not snap close causeing the engine to jump or momentary stall. This started with a brand new van at 6K miles and after the mandatory update got worse every thousand miles had to clean the EGR dealer made the poor excuse of it's the fuel My driving was a lot of short trips unfortunately had to get rid of the van before it got to the swirl valves what's your opinion on this 3.0

I have seen EGR excessively carboned up and have never seen anything like that. To be honest it sounds like a load of crap and an excuse. Especially if it started at 6k, EGR should not have that much carbon at 6k and if it did then there is something else majorly wrong. This is just my opinion. I like the 3 liter engine and think it has good power and is reliable. It can be very expensive to fix but it is a Mercedes. I will tell you that the 3 liter is so much better then the crappy 4 cylinder that is for sure. The funny thing about the 3 liter Sprinters is that the early ones are a mix between Dodge, Mercedes and Freightliner. We have had times were we could call the dealer for a part and they would say it is not available or a big wait, but could call Freightliner and they had it in stock. Thanks for watching.
