I’m planning on doing a Cummins swap on my 1970 El Camino, and building up an NV4500 like this. Appreciate the video!

Did you get it done?

@@Lifeline13216 I have the NV4500 in my living room and the rebuild kit ready to go, just having to finish up some other projects, first. Ordered the Cummins engine, but the builder has a waitlist, so that'll be a while. I rebuilt the NP241DLD transfer case. I have a Dana 60 front and Dana 70 rear axle in the garage. One of the projects I'm about to finish will pay for the parts I need to rebuild these axles. It's coming together, slowly. I will probably pick up a GoPro or something to record the process.over the next couple years.

@joshua.merrill yeah gathering parts can be a nightmare. I just bought all the parts to build a new one for a mustang I'm working on. I'm jealous of the full frame you have to work with. As far as I am on it I'm not stopping lol.

@@Lifeline13216 I definitely like the simplicity of body-on-frame design. I'm still going to have to reinforce it, though, because it's a small tubing perimeter frame, and I think the monstrous torque from the 1200lbs Cummins would want to twist stuff up. Are you putting a Cummins in a Mustang?

@joshua.merrill more like I'm putting a mustang around a cummins lol

Is the goal for there to be zero endplay, or a tiny little gap to remain?

.002 is the factory minimum, consider parts grow as they heat up and internal components will receive more heat than the outer case, lots of heavy long range towing I suspect this might not be enough.

When installing the bearing that goes in front of the reverse gear is it supposed to be seated as far as it can go to where the revers big gear won’t move or is there suppose to be a little give to it?
