We've been documentarily qualified since March 13, 2024. I inputted the application on March 3rd, 2023. I am still waiting for the CR-1 visa interview from the NVC or Embassy in the Dominican Republic.

Good morning! I am applying for cr1 visa under consular processing and just finished submitting civil docs and waiting for nvc to say i am documentarily qualified then eventually go to us embassy for interview. I am wondering if cr1 will automatically change to ir1 if the applicant becomes qualified to ir1 while waiting for embassy interview. I will be married to a us citizen for 2 years by january 15, 2025. Or do i still get cr1 visa then eventually apply for removal of conditions. Thanks!

No. PD must be current for a visa number to be available to you. I tried that and was refused.

I am in the military (USA) and stationed overseas; we filed my wife's I-130 in October 2021, and we went to our local embassy in July 2023, and they decided we needed an I-601. We filled out the I-601, which was accepted on December 5, 2023 (with our immigration attorney's help). I called USCIS and asked if they would expedite us. I even had my Senator inquire about us and was told they would not expedite anyone (barring a very extreme circumstance, meaning 1% of 1% get the expedite). I would expect two things. The first is that the timeframe will keep going up until they get sued (our timeframe has gone up by 7 months (every 2 months, it goes up a month) for the I-601 since we filed it). The second is that whatever the timeframe is on the website, that is what you will wait for, and there is no way for anyone to get through it quicker. With my wife being German, I am thinking about maybe just moving to Germany.
