What worked for me I believe was I set all my defaults up in Nvidia broadcast, Alt + Z into the overlay and made everything Nvidia as in Nvidia Speakers and Nvidia microphone

i personally fixed the issue by doing alt-z and going to Nvidia>Settings>Audio and putting both "system sounds" and "Volume" down slightly below 100%. no idea why it worked but it did.

If your microphone still isn’t working. Make sure you have your mic in shadowplay set to always on. Also type “mixer” into windows search bar, open that. Make sure nvidia is “default” and not anything else
