Ahead of this year’s Nvidia GTC developer conference, CNBC sat down with founder and CEO Jensen Huang to talk about ChatGPT, gaming, the omniverse, and what’s next. In this full interview, Huang takes us on the journey of Nvidia, from its early days in a condo to the dominant player in GPUs, gaming, and now A, which is a major focus of GTC this year. Huang also talks about how he handled China export controls, and geopolitical tensions swirling around Taiwan where most of its chips are made.

@@soha150 That would depend on if the founder keeps majority stake (51%) of the stock. I don't know if that apply to Jensen, I doubt it because he would be a billionaire at the level of Musk if that was the case. Jensen is very savvy and haven't failed Nvidia during all these years. I have to say whilst Jensen handles every interview well and is one of the top 3 CEOs in the world right now the quality of Katie Tarasov is unbelieveably refreshing. So many fall for the ego of trying to show their own knowledge rather than offering prompts to allow the Interviewer to speak. Exceptionally high quality interview.

OR... you could've just waited for the price to go down, as it always does, but I guess you just had to play that handful of games that will actually REQUIRE the latest & greatest. I've heard AMD has been doing better lately though with software compatibility, but they also have raised their prices after gaining a little bit of market share. Meanwhile, Intel is on the tail of AMD gaining market share at a cheaper price! Good luck AMD! Here's to more competition in the GPU space! 😅

@@megamanx466 Not at all, I had a budget card from 2017, and wanted to upgrade, yet, I couldn't with NVIDIA. Got a budget AMD card, and I dont play the latest and greatest games, at all. The budget side of gpus have gotten worse in value much faster than the high end gpus. That's where you really see the price gouging and stagnation from both AMD and NVIDIA. The 3050 and rx 6500 are just shocking and would never have happened 3 years ago.

This is a myth. If they wanted to, they could order more wafers from TSMC. In fact, they were supposed to receive more wafers, but decided to cut them down (back in ~October 2022, as I remember). They decided not to create more GPUs, deliberately, as a choice - to artificially slow down supply, sell Ampere stock, and inculcate a new price floor on consumers for generations to come.

@@Mrfiufaufou It's literally the exact opposite. You can't blame people for making choices that benefit themselves: their budgets are tight, the information they have about the products they consume is limited, their education is inadequate, etc. You're putting the burden on the wrong people. You know who you can blame? The entity that oversees the entire chain of production. The entity who makes all the decisions about their product. The entity that fully understands what their product is, does, and how much it costs. The entity that unilaterally sets prices, that avoids regulations, that rips off or lies to consumers in a myriad of ways.

@Steven S. You're attacking a point that no one made. No one said that you need a 4090. But everyone is correctly saying that GPU prices are too high. I don't "blame" Nvidia either, but you're blaming consumers. Further, you're not willing to criticize the system when it allows corporations like Nvidia to gouge their costumers.

2:10 He is rewriting history a bit. It started out as a graphics hardware company, with people spinning off of Silicon Graphics. Yeah, NVIDIA was a gaming hardware company and for years produced great affordable gaming GPUs that suprisingly worked for 3D pro work using Maya and Softimage while Real3D and Permedia were selling super pricey cards for that. The scientific/AI compute is relatively recent but it was pretty easy to see where that was going when NVIDIA introduced shaders. To be fair, BitBoys never-made-to-market Pyramid3D had computable pixel pipelines too.

Stiff interview imo You can tell he didn't want to get into specifics to certain questions. I kinda understand that but it seems lame they ask and it's always avoided obviously The knowledge he was telling you about the industry as a whole is good. If you have an idea, absolutely try to pursue it with AI and or buy using the A100 I wish she could have asked a few better questions or follow ups on supply chain management or the fact he said he would chase TSMC to the desert. This is very important especially when thinking about the future (not just for jobs) Would have thought a more laid back interview would have been better. Sitting on those 'highchairs' just made it look awkward for me. However, I appreciate the opportunity to listen to him talk. He definitely gives you a peek into computing and where he thinks

Gpu's have always fascinated me ever since then and i've owned many of them. Crazy how far gpu's have come and how they went from driving gamers favorite pass time to being one the most important products in the world, a product that will drive humanity forward by enabling creations that will increase the health and life spans of humans, lower poverty and make college level educations cheap or perhaps even free if you're willing to put up with ads. I just hope Jensen doesn't forget about the people who funded his company and made it all possible. Don't stop making gaming gpu's and stop making them so expensive lol.

I went with AMD this graphics card cycle (first time I didn't go with nVidia in nearly two decades), because they've got DisplayPort 2.1, and bandwidth is important when one is interested in 8K displays. I just hope an 8K monitor better than the Dell UP3218K comes out before too long, because my Dell, which I've had for four years now, has a TAB-error, and I'd like something a little bit more advanced, preferably with a smaller 27 inch diagonal and higher pixel density.

@Darhan62

@@Owenzzz777, it's about future-proofing for the monitors that I hope are coming, if the display industry will get off it's lazy behind and innovate in that area. I need to use two DisplayPort cables to run my UP3218K. They should be able to do it with just one, reduce the screen size to ~27", which is my ideal screen size for a desktop monitor, and improve things like black levels, contrast, color gamut, pixel response time, etc... And, of course, higher than 60Hz refresh would be nice too. I've been chasing the perfect monitor for decades, and shall likely continue to for as long as my eyes still work.

@Xld3 Yes, but desser was the tool that was originally created just for this purpose, to reduce the harshness and sibilance in sound. First dessers were hardware based way before dynamic eq was even possible. And honestly difference between dynamic eq and multiband compressor is more vocabulary than real use case. So yes dynamic eq is just the most flexible and can do it all basically, but I would still use and prefer to use dedicated desser which was fine tuned over the years to react just to sibilance something like Weiss desser tbh. 😉 Or if we want to go really modern then something like soothe...

@@danielkisel5661 fair enough, it's like a multiband that just uses a single narrow band.
