Nvidia RTX 4060 Ti vs RTX 3060 Ti Performance in a Nutshell

Nvidia has recently released the RTX 4060 Ti and in this video I wanted to take a deeper dive into what Nvidia has brought to the table compared to the RTX 3060 Ti, the 4060 Ti has little to no incremental performance uplift, if we take away ray tracing and DLSS 3 which I'm pretty confident Nvidia could add this technology to their previous gen hardware too but they have to have a good selling point, marketing as a 50% to 100% performance uplift when in actual rasterization cases, the 4060 Ti performs equally to the 3060 Ti.

When I looked at how big the gaps from tier to tier in the 40 series cards is, I figured that the 4050 would be slower than a 3050. This is just another data point confirming that trend.

If games were actually OPTIMIZED nowadays, 8gb vram would still be great. Now it's just 'good enough'. I'm glad I got my 3060Ti at just $400 during the GPU shortage. It's great bang for your buck. Paired it with a 5600X and couldn't be happier, I love them both. The only thing stopping me now is unoptimized games.

This is why I have been avoiding so many new games. My framework 16 with an RX 7700s 8GB runs amazing on virtually everything I put it through. Sometimes I don't even need to use dedicated graphics and can simply just run the game on the integrated graphics if I don't feel like I need to match my screens refresh rate with the framerate.

yea its been nice, i've sold my 300 series and got 4000s series due to energy prices increasing. so power efficiency is what key to continue crypto mining. that being said the memory bus reduction actually makes the 30 series cards better for some crypto algos so the rtx 4060 ti is doa for us too. The 30 series was a combo of scalpers jumping on to demand and Nvidia selling cards directly to both scalpers and miners in bulk. They were selling hundreds to miner groups at once and scalpers got lines into store houses (before they are shipped to the west). Nvidia's rep has jumped off a cliff since all that started. The 40 series never had a chance.

@@CornRecords972 Hell, the CPU market is just beginning its innovation. Intel has some huge changes on their roadmap for the next 2 generations, and hopefully AMD will continue to match their pace. GPU market is still innovating, but that innovation is marred by insidious naming practices and purposeful gimping, with the exception of the 4090 (which has its own issues, being overengineered and therefore costing a couple hundred bucks more than it should).

Some people don't have a choice. Those who need CUDA acceleration for whatever software they use or other Nvidia exclusive features are basically stuck with a de facto monopoly. But I would say the majority of gamers can daily drive an AMD or Intel GPU no problem (although Intel still struggles with older games and a few other issues).

As I recall, there was no shortage. Demand was higher than production capacity but Nvidia was still able to sell pallets of GPUs to mining farms in bulk, rather than the PC Gaming market. That decision allowed distributors and retailers to jack up the prices on artificially low stock, something the SEC fined nvidia for. They made billions off crypto bros, now they're trying to do the same thing with Ai.

The one thing people seem to miss; and I blame Nvidia marketing for this to some degree, is the cost of ownership. The 4060 Ti costs 50-66% less than the 3060 Ti to power. That is 'forever cost'... Any money you save up front by opting for a 3060 Ti would be sucked up by the power cost within a year and then you start to lose money - forever. So yeah, you may match or only get a slight bump in performance over the 3060 Ti, but the card runs cooler and at a fraction of the power consumption. I have mine overclocked and undervolted and it doesn't break 90 watts in most games I've tested. The 3060 Ti runs ~230-250 Watts stock and ~190 undervolted unless you get a nice stable founders. I've only heard of one hitting 160 Watts stable; still higher than a 4060 Ti at stock settings.

I already knew - after the pricing of RTX 3090ti - Nvidia would increase the price and performance or maintain the price but worsen the performance, which that happened to the 4060ti. Granted, I wanted to have their 16GB VRAM, cuz I play Warzone, but for a $100 more with same performance, I think it’s not worth it. NVIDIA is definitely taking the L this year with their prices, performance, and claims. Their motto “for the gamers” became a legend. I feel like NVIDIA is becoming Apple at this point. A luxurious brand for a luxurious price with decent to terrible performance.

There will probably never be a generation as good as pascal. Nvidia will make sure it doesn't happen again. Ada has as much gains as Pascal, but they severely gimped every card below the 4090. In fact, the 1080ti is less cut down from the full die than the 4090 is. But they still managed to convince people that it's the best value card at more than double the price. If Nvidia had strong competition since then, the 4090 would've costed similar to 1080ti (plus inflation and the higher node costs).

As far as I can tell, there's nothing wrong with DLSS as a feature. Honestly, it's a pretty clever way to get most of the good out of a 1440p or 4k monitor with card that's otherwise not powerful enough to handle those resolutions. But it's not magic, and it can't construct detail from nothing. It's certainly not going to completely cover for a reduced core count or lower bandwidth bus.

Than sure buy it, becouse of it. Its just not performance. Frames are faster, smoother, but game itself isnt any faster its actualy reacting slower becouse frame generating process isnt the part of main render, becouse of we cant go back in time, we can just accelerate something (nvidias latency reduction is that acceleration), frame gen in this case... Its not bad, its decent tech its just very limited and sometimes useless... thats why i am calling it performance hack, becouse of it is hack and its not performance.

I have the 3060 with 12 gb, gotta say I play any game that was recently release, all of the on 4k, of course the quality settings are low to medium depending on the game, but I don't really see a huge difference to be honest, 4k is really looking good especially on a big TV, and the computer as a whole was only 1.2k at peak gpu prices

I hope people realize that the 4 series is all about efficiency and DLSS v3. They cut around 60 watts usage and the card will only get better with time through firmware updates. Yeah it's not leaps and bounds better but if you are coming from a poverty 760 or something, get the 4 series without hesitation. If you are upgrading from a 3060Ti, then wait til the 5 or 6 series.
