This will be a long read but i can read the market and i will open ur eyes to the fuckery thats happening. 6800/3070, 6800XT/3080, and the 4080/7900XTX performed the same yet people bought nvidia. If u do more than game i understand, but the vast majority just plays games and they shouldve bought AMD. AMD has more vram, and AMD smoothed out thier drivers to Nvidia levels with the RNDA release with the 5000 series. People not looking into products before they buy caused this mess. 3070 has 8gbs. 3080 has 10. Both 6800/XT have 16. the 4080 has 16 but the 7900XTX has 24. People with these Nvidia cards won't last 5+ years like it supposed too like the 10 series and older. U guys are screwed while AMD buyers will be fine. Nvidia havers will have to upgrade at the same time bc the 20-50 series share the same levels of vram across 5 Years reguardless how fast they are. The 5080 is a 4K capable card so is the 5070 and the 5060 is a capable 1440p card but thier respective resolutions are downgraded by 1 bc of the vram alone. NVIDIA has built up more trust and stability in the market over the years. AMD was always the "alternate" option. Not the primary. On top of that a lot of people do more than gaming. If you develop 3D assets or games like I do, you know that Nvidia unfortunately performs miles better and theres just so much more optimization/compatability with their GPUs. The other issue is that AMD cards have been dying early or just consume way too much power meaning you have to upgrade your PSU just to use their high end cards

You guys know they are using GDDR7 which is a lot faster and faster ram also results in less usage. Look at RAM specific things, when you 8000MHZ OR 6000MHz u see that 8k version uses 11GB of RAM and the 6000MHz uses 12GB of RAM. I think it will result the same way.

I strongly advise not buying the 5080 16GB. Here's what I found: first, my setup is 7800X3D, TUF 4080 Super, 32GB DDR5 6000Mhz, CL30. So in Indiana Jones the great circle. I'm getting 130 FPS at 4k DLSS performance, frame gen on, ray tracing high (not ultra). As soon as I switch to DLSS balanced, I ran out of 16GB VRAM and get 3 FPS... So even before the release of 5080, 16GB is not enough to run DLSS balanced with high ray tracing! This is completely unacceptable, imagine spending thousands and get 3 FPS on DLSS balanced with ray tracing... what a joke

The "Nvidia doesn't need more VRAM because tech" is the exact same excuse as Apple "our 8gb equals as 16gb on PC" 16gb isn't enough with a card as powerful as the 5080 leaked, take the 3070 for example, extremely powerful but the 8gb VRAM is a major bottleneck. I will give you a better example that you want to notice, is easy, not taking 3000 series. 4080 has 16b vram and performance exactly the same or better in some case of a RTX 7900xtx with 24gb vram. (This in GAMES) you may notice that with a NVIDIA performance signically better in 3d rendering, video editing and encoding. If you dont want to notice this facts is ok, but im not defending, and if you guys are talking about only games i really even know why you are looking for a NVIDIA GPU, you would get better performance/price ratio with an AMD Card, at leats in games. You know most games don't use more than 6gb, honestly you cry over this when the latest handhelds have 16gb shared between ram and vram. Soon all games will have to run on lower systems thanks to handhelds being the future of gaming. We will find out more early January, Xbox will lead the way.

8 GB os the minimum for gaming. For heavier gaming it's 12 GB, but recommend it's 16 GB

The 5080 is a disappointment already. I don't think it will be a big step up from the 4080. Even Intel put 16 GB on their Arc A770. Previous gen, midrange! Schouldn't a next-gen high-end card beat that?

If 5090 is 32gb with 512b then 5080 has to be 28gb with 448bit and 5070 to be 24gb w/ 384b bus and 5060ti is 16gb w/ 256b and 5060 is 12gb w/ 192b

5060 12g, 5070 16g and 5080 needs to be 24gb... 5090 already spec'd at 32g... But 5080 with 16 when 5090 gets 32... Thats a bit fk'd
