For my money, the greatest dis song ever. Not only was it based on what was actually happening (Jerry and Eazy ripping the rest of the group off), it actually fit in with the larger themes of Death Certificate which talks a lot about the economic exploitation of Blacks in America with rape as a recurring metaphor. His ending words to Eazy about breaking away from Jerry match the larger message on the Life Side of the album about economic independence.

Also, if you want the "Hit Em Up" vibe, the REAL beef songs to do would be Dr. Dre's "Everbody F--k with Dre Day" vs Eazy-E's "Real Muthaphuckin G's." Easy-E''s song in particular goes HAAAAARD

That thumbnail image with your face on the vaseline is hilarious. There have been interviews done where some people have said that Easy was a good guy and loyal. And that his loyalty to Jerry Heller really came from a good place. A lot of people forget that loyalty is a good quality when talking about Easy-E.

Thank you! I have fun making the thumbnails. There's such a thing as misplaced loyalty, too. Jerry was sketchy.

Ice Cube had already reacted to the first diss on a track called Jackin For Beats: "And if I jack you and you keep comin' I'll have you marks a 100 Miles and Running". What's funny is that after Dre left Death Row Records Suge Knight included No Vaseline on a Death Row Greatest Hits album. Everyone was so petty in those days. :)

Ice cube went to the west coast. It was a big deal because it was a west coast artist going to the east and the bomb squad which produced for public enemy. I would really like to see you do Public Enemy - fight the power is a good one. They were everybody's favorite group at one time before NWA. Way more conscious. And a fun fact is that they were against drugs. But flavor flav was on hella drugs.
