Not Today released Feb 20, 2017 ON released three years later, Feb 21, 2020. I found BTS when ON was released. Not Today was my hype song during the first year of the pandemic.

Let me recommend to your attention another oldie: the RUN MV. A gem from 8 and a half years ago. The guys are young, too young to have such depth of lyrics. The MV itself is quite long - it's divided into two parts - but I promise you that every moment of the 7:31 mins is worth it. BTS doesn't really care that an MV might get fewer views coz of its length. They fully show what they have to say. They don't dance in the RUN MV - it's rather a short movie - but it's much more than that. It's one of the reasons I'm part of the fandom. RUN is shockingly honest and perfectly captures the essence of youth. It really shook my soul - it brought up feelings, tastes and smells from the distant past that I had long forgotten. So intense and vivid that I was seriously shocked and cried. This is something special about BTS. They can convey feelings, emotions perfectly. You're a bit younger than me, - but I'm sure you'll get what I'm talking about - if you take the time to check it out. :) Your Fake Love cover is amazing. Thank you for your great work.

1000x agree, RUN is a timeless masterpiece. How can one song capture so perfectly the haunting, nostalgic ache of young adulthood, that sense of standing on a precipice between restless longing and despair. It’s been decades since my own HYYH, but everything about RUN from the MV to the rap, vocals, beautiful layering and even the choreo, takes me back to those feelings. I definitely think Nathan would enjoy a deep dive into the production and audio files of RUN. 💜

You know Nathan, the thing about BTS is they always encourage us/you to do “you”…so there’s nothing stopping you to dye your hair nor dressed edgier than you normally do..I think you’ll rock with lighter hair colours.. This is amazing live. They proformed this live back to back with Dionysus. The live energy is incredible. (Dionysus+Not Today Live at Wembley stadium)!!!! There's also the 2019 Final in Seoul ( LY:Speak Yourself Final in Seoul) where they proformed Dionysus+Not today live. It gives such a different feeling.

This song is an inspiration to many people who were/are struggling. “Not Today” is an intensely positive message, (especially when SUGA says it) to someone who is on the edge. BTS’s timeless lyrics are so powerful, with even a nod to MLK. Thank you for your breakdown and appreciation for its relevance today musically. It’s a great song. This is part of the Love Yourself Era. About 4 or 5 years before On. And written around the time they had a major amount of harassment and bullying from online fandoms, media and other kpop companies. This a great workout song or a song when you need to get motivated. You should check out a live of So What. That's fun at concerts. Or Baepsae and Ugh, but then check out the Korean explanation of both. Just recenty BTS were called out again about them not taking a political stance on the war in the east. They have never, as long as Ive been ARMY, see them get involved in politics. But the haters made a big deal of it with BTS and Hybe. Right now false accusations while they, themselves are in the military and out of contact. So...ARMY answered for them in a way and started streaming Not Today and it started charting again. Was it the right thing to do? I dont know, but what I do know is this song was an answer to the world on all the hate they were getting and the confusion over the pandemic. It still works! Loved your reaction. I totally agree with those you hang out with you start to act like them. In my opinion you are hanging with them. Not Today is before ON, from their early albums, but if you watch their earliest work, and I think you have, they were VERY fierce and full of energy. Unlike most K-pop, their videos almost always have a story, not just random visuals. They were so oppressed by the industry that they had to be to break out around them as the industry didnt and still doesnt want them to succeed. So a lot of their early work is fighting back against that. I suspect that is why they are running so hard and being shot at in this video. There isnt really any BTS video I would not recommend to you though their early school love stuff, I like it but its not as deep as most of their work. The early albums were a mix of it and things like this. I dont think youve seen Go Go, the Halloween version with Snow White and the 6 dwarves but its one of my favorites.
