I've been watching you now for 2 to 3 weeks and over that time you have pretty much become my favorite KZbin channel other than maybe the outdoor boys. I really appreciate your passion for the outdoors, your passion for our planet, your passion for fishing. I truly believe what we see of you is the real you. You are very fortunate to live where you do and have the possessions you do the land the boats, and it's refreshing to see someone who is humble enough to know that and make good use of them. You're filming and production style are fantastic. You do at times drive me crazy, always eating the same thing, that damn trout taco and grilled cheese in a tortilla LOL please learn to use some lemon on your fish LOL and sometimes you have the right tools and a great knife and then on the next one you don't have a knife and you are using your tools inappropriately LOL but besides all those trivial things I find myself wanting to be you so continue to put out the awesome content thank you truly.

Fun to watch you figure it out. When you are out in cold weather, use a different sleeping pad. I have the same lightweight one for summer use, get something with some insulation for winter use or wrap you existing one in a wool blanket before laying on it. It will make you feel so much warmer. I have slept out in an unheated tent down to -30*F, sleeping pads are a big part of success.

Hey Leif, I really enjoyed this video. I know it is easy to say sitting in a warm home while you are out there surviving (you know what I mean). If you could do the exploring, as this video with two days that would be awesome. By the way, Leif, I love the alpine videos, as well. When you forge for mushrooms and try multiple fishing methods (baits). Keep doing those, also the aerial video of your location is stupendous, we have such a beautiful country. I know it takes a lot work to get up those slopes, but camping for multiple day is awesome, also. I know having the dogs on the property is cute, and I am sure your some of your viewer like to see them in the wild, but I think they are a distraction. You have to be careful of wolves and cayotes, maybe even an eagle. I like the notion of using another form of a fire source and realistically reminding people to have multiple ways of lighting fire. Thanks once again, for sharing your experience with us.

If you’re dealing with frozen ground try starting your fire when you first establish where you’re going to camp and begin boiling water as soon as possible. Once the water is boiling pour the hot water on the ground where your tent stakes will go. You could also try putting your tent stakes in the pot while you’re boiling the water to heat them up. IDK We never know until we try right. even if it doesn’t work you can be somewhat warm while you’re putting your tent up.
