I absolutely love watching your videos every week. I’m a 60 year old single woman and I live for my hiking and my fishing. I just started flyfishing about three years ago and I don’t feel so badly because I fish like you do lol. Most of what I catch is just luck more than actual skill. I love watching your catch and cooks and just today I caught a nice little 11 inch rainbow on the fly rod so this evening I will be trying a fish taco with the onions mushroom avocados and cheese on my tortilla. Wish me luck. I am very blessed and that there is a beautiful trout stream that runs right through the little town where I live. It has a lot of native fish but the local club, of which I belong, stocks it every year as well. So pretty much every day after work I can fish if I want to because it’s so close. Yes there have actually been times when I stood at the creek with a fly rod in hand with a dress on and bare feet!!

I love seeing you doing more fly fishing! For the future, you should try using a foam grasshopper fly as a top fly with a nymph tied on below it. That foam hopper will make it easy for you to see when you get hit (like an indicator) and also it will float very easily so it will control your depth to hopefully reduce snags. Give it a try - I think it’s one of the best ways to fish for trout because it’s easy to use and effective. Keep up the great work!

One tip that (sometimes) works for getting un snagged…let some line out past the snag and then gently pull back using the line to pull the fly from the opposite direction. Fish on buddy!

It’s usually the bead getting stuck in the crack of a rock. Playing around creating drag with the fly line sometimes helps….if it’s the hook stuck in a stick however…you’re SOL 😂

When you cast your fly rod, throw an upstream mend to get a longer drift. My dad taught me it and it works really well. Keep up the good work.

I took a class in NC mountain town and we practiced on the tarmac. That weekend I went to the Davidson River, waded out and started casting. I got so excited because he was right, it worked really nice on the water. I was having a ball. I looked and followed my cast back once and there was a person on a footbridge taking a picture of me fly fishing. I just laughed, if they only knew it was the first time on a river with a fly rod. I absolutely love it!!

Love watching you learn to fly fish. I am no expert, but have been doing it for 4 years now in Colorado. I would recommend either lightweight waders or aqua socks that you can slip on and off while fishing. Pretty lightweight and inexpensive. Also, in small streams like this, you’ll snag less using 1 fly. The 2 fly method is great but is better for bigger water. Little midges and trout egg imitations work great up at elevation.

Fly fishing tip, use a streamer or something with hackle and a bead, cast across, let it sink a little, let the current swing it back to your bank, just hold the rod pointing downstream, follow the line with the tip, strip while retrieving the fly when the line is straight again on your bank. Trout can't resist that. Good video tutorials on Reds flyshop channel. Nice videos bro, keep doing it!

few tips with fly fishing take 4 of each hook start at the tail end of a pool and after you cast flick your float line up stream froom your hooks so your lures have a more natural movement in the current if you see "rooster tails" on your hooks so do the fish trout have good vision standing infront of them can cause them to be more timid love your vids

Absolutely love these videos, it’s awesome to see you fly fishing. I’m a fly fishing addict here in Michigan, you Should practice keeping the fly line under your right hand index finger, so you don’t have all the slack line when you set the hook, I also notice you don’t mend your line, mending the line is key in keep a good natural drift! I would love to tie some flies for you! :)
