You think this is bad? Come to Queens where we have two major airports buzzing 2000 planes over our heads every day, the passengers of which mostly have no desire to visit Queens except to get to the airport. So, helicopter noise in the trendy parts of the city sounds like sweet justice to me.

But this is affecting rich people living in $5000 studios. Not families in East Elmhurst, South Ozone Park, and the Rockaways.

@@MarvCapturesTheVibezNYC JFK planes are commercial flights transporting people for business, family visits, college enrollment, vacations, etc. Helicopters buzzing Manhattan are sightseers of the worst kind. They gawk at the big city like a bunch of yokels (or influencers). You wanna experience the Big Apple, take the subway.

This reminds me of friend of mine who lived in Switzerland for 8 years who told me that on weekends in the neighborhood on where he lived, the whole neighborhood is supposed to be quiet because everyone is resting from a week of work. He said that even using a washing machine during the weekends could get you in trouble with the cops over there, also.

I live right across the river from the damn helicopter pad on East River and it's annoying that I can hear it from over there Manhattan over in Long Island City in my apartment and keep in mind I'm in the back of another building basically I have a school surrounding my window and I could still hear the damn helicopters they wake me up every damn morning and I'm so fed up with it and they're not supposed to use them at night time and they're constantly using them at night time too so I constantly get woken up at night sometimes too

Unfortunately, the old LongRangers that make up most of the traffic are not the quietest. That said, tour routes are mostly over the waterways. Blade is charter, not tours - they go between the heliports and airports, avoiding congestion on the ground. While I appreciate the concern, eliminating helicopter traffic would cause more problems than it solves.

The city should also not ban the sea plane charter flights because it’s a really useful flight from 34th street to Boston

Meanwhile, hundreds of residences in the Bronx are subjected to such heavy soil impacts and constant running of huge generators around construction sites that it's impossible to sleep at night without 30db ear plugs. There hasn't been a full hour of peace within the past two years, you can't even hear your own stereo equipment while sitting in the same room with windows open. EPA ignore the reports of illegal operation and hazardous noise levels/duration! GTFO! 🤬🤣

So you're saying if someone else has it worse, no one can enjoy peace and quiet?

@@GlennElert Only pointing out that it's necessary to enforce law everywhere, but for some reason the EPA are willing to ignore noise regulations and basic human safety where state projects are involved. Helicopters are deafening, as are demolition charges within 200 feet, huge soil excavators and dump trucks, industrial soil compactors, hydraulic hammers, giant generators which run continuously for more than one year, all within a stone throw of private residences and no sound barriers other than chain-linked fencing. These areas sound like battlefields for years, and none of the residents can even open their windows in summer without fear of hearing loss.

Thanks for covering the NYC Council Hearing on the environmental, safety, health and quality of life issues created by these unnecessary and excessively noisy tourist and commuter helicopters. Tourists can safely see NYC from above at the numerous observation decks throughout the city. The commuter flights to the airports and Hamptons fly extremely low over environmental Justice neighborhoods in Brooklyn that already suffer from higher rates of asthma - these fossil fuel based helicopters spew pollutants and increase fine particulate matter in our atmosphere. Noise pollution as well is a proven health hazard. There’s simply no good reason to allow these nonessential helicopters any more.

Tax helicopters at 500% instead of tolling regular midtown streets maybe?

Or just ban them altogether. Would you like it if there were helicopters flying above your house every day? Not medical helicopters doing emergency runs. Not rescue helicopters recovering people from mountaintops. Just sightseers looking to post a video on social media, or tell their friends what they did on their vacation.

They better not ban the tour flights because that is what also brings attraction to this horrible city and it’s safer to visit the city you won’t get attacked from high up
