Just a humble correction - most of those high end stores you walked past on 5th Avenue (I work for one of them) are open! They have to follow Andrew Cuomo's "Retail To Go", which does not allow for clients in the store. Clients have to place their orders via phone, and can pick them up via "curbside pickup". The buildings are open, even though they're still boarded up. Also, the Tiffany store next to Trump Tower has been closed for construction since January. There's no merchandise in there. They moved around the corner to 6 East 57th Street.

Businesses are boarded up to prevent looting
@Dr.Pepper0014 жыл бұрын
It's a waste of time to board up. Those lunatic rioters have blow torches to burn their businesses anyway. When will this insanity end?
@rasmasyean4 жыл бұрын
@@Dr.Pepper001 During the actual rioting and looting, boards didn't help at all. They bring crowbars and hammers and stuff and they just bust a hole and in some cases, tear down the entire wall of boards. The only business where it MIGHT help, is if you're like a general store with nothing of value to steal. Then they won't just throw bricks at your windows for fun and move on to some other place. Like some convenience store or something was just smashed up with all their stuff on the floor. Maybe they took some beer and cigs I guess, but they didn't have to destroy everything as it's obviously not a "corporation" to be angry at nor do white privileged ppl usually own such an establishment. :P

Rush hour in Manhattan and barely anyone around.... a reopening of NYC like we've never seen before; not even after 9/11 or Hurricane Sandy. Coming out of the subway and seeing a handful of people and cars on Fifth Avenue with all the stores boarded up- especially "Fort Saks" :o It seems it's going to take a while for NYC to get back to the (new) normal but eventually it ill get back to normal. Possibly after a vaccine and especially if COVID weakens over time.

You're showing a busy part of NYC, yes, BUT, it's historically the tourists that visit 5th Avenue to spend all their money. Native NY'ers aren't the ones who you'd find walking 5th Avenue to shop. Try heading downtown or into an outer borough for a better representation of what reopening is looking like.

I’m a hairstylist so I went back to work yesterday. Governor Inslee threw all the rules out the window and send us back to work to stand 6” away from our clients even though cases continue to climb. I had 12 clients yesterday and there’s no hope of no exposure. I will be wearing my P100 mask to work. I’m glad NYC is acting so cautiously. Thanks for the great videos I love your content.
