So many commenting about 'real' hustler, same people that end up being the pay on payday. You can see there's no clock, guy is looking around not focusing then attacking before developing. Its warm up and bait. Same people calling the guy's play poor are same ones gonna lose 50 on the next game not because they'll be less good but because they're gonna make a mistake underestimating. Also, a lot of good 60mins players get destroyed playing lesser players that are more experienced in bullet. It's street chess hustle folks! It's not a quiet room of chess. It's street chess.
@Powerule236 жыл бұрын
Benny Burmeister + Perhaps, maybe that is his rating, but the key here is that he's hustling for a living. He spends his entire day monitoring whose watching and who may play him next. Guy's like this lose to ultimately win in spots during the course of an outing. He probably makes about $150 on an average day. I love watching these guys, because there's an art to this particular hustle.
@Caaro996 жыл бұрын
Benny .Burmeister Jørgensen if his rating is 1800 then mine is 2200. 1700 - 1800 is considered advanced and is pretty close to expert. With his tactics and short sighted strategies and especially with all those mistakes and blunders there’s no way he is advanced I’d give his rating 1200 and if maybe that was just a bad game for him then 1400 tp 1500 MAXBenny .Burmeister Jørgensen

I think the chess hustler played pretty well before his game fell apart towards the end. Around 1:54 though I wonder, why does white not just play g5? It seems to accomplish the following: 1. attacks the the f6 N with a pawn 2. opens the diagonal for the white B 3. threatens to break up the coordination between the f6 N and d7 N If ...hxg5, then white can recapture with his black B, which develops a piece and pins the f6 N to the Q. If ...exd4, then black can play gxf6. Or maybe even Bxd7. I'm sure I am missing something, but curious to know what others think.

According to several elite GM's (+-2800elo), after having played/watched hustlers in New York, the level of the majority of them floats around 2000-2300, nothing compared to hundreds of world class chess players but pretty strong maybe unbeatable by anyone who wants to "try" them without enough experience, knowledge, tactical ability, technique and so on.
@zapranoth79256 жыл бұрын
IMO he was throwing that game, since he probably felt the guy's friend was up next ("your man is pretty good") No strong player starts sending all his kingside pawns against a bishop like that, not with the queens still on the board. And missing the hanging rook near the end when he moved his knight to fork the king and bishop? Nah. He was throwing this game with an eye to a payday later.

rick dereaux IQ has been shown to not be an accurate measure of innate intelligence... also, I would image if you were able to do a statistical analysis of all the chess players in the world you would likely find that the amount of players is not divided evenly by race. The real nail in the coffin here is that not all people who are intelligent are good at chess and vice-versa. It has a lot more to do with how much chess you play and the type of thinker you are.

@staypositive43583 жыл бұрын
I think the hustler is higher than 1400 USCF. What's your USCF rating? I think a titled player would have demolished you if you allowed all those pawn moves on the kingside to advance like that. Your activity came from a silly blunder the opponent made on the queenside which hung one of the pawns.

Toward the end, when then black had the knight pinned with the bishop, and white moved the knight to b7, Black should have gone ahead and taken the rook on c1, because after White moves Ne5, forking the rook on d3 and bishop on g6, black was still safe. I've played the Washington Square Park hustlers, back when the bet was $2. For real, I only won once there, but man was it a win. It would have been middle game and I was losing and in bad position. I knew I had something though and just stared at the board (no clock) for I swear at least 10 minutes, yes the other guy was getting pissed. Then I saw it, 5 straight pure sacrifices that he was forced to take, and I'm not talking pawn sacrifices, I'm talking queen, rook, bishop, all big pieces, but I cleared the deck for a back row check mate with my last power piece, the rook. He thought I was just nuts when I sacrificed my queen, he thought for a bit when I tossed in a rook, with the 3rd piece of mine up for grabs he must have thought I might be up to something and did some staring at the board himself, then he looked sideways and flicked his king over. He had to be good himself to see the win I had ahead. The reason I had to stare at the board for so long was first to see the win, then check the win, then memorize the order and scheme of the win because even making 1 sacrifice one has to be accurate in the calculations. I had to crystallize it in my head. When I moved each piece for sacrifice, I moved lightening speed. That is it, my best win story, and true.

Critique I am not that bad at chess at all. The regular kicking around chess player I can beat, people that are really into it and study and play all the time I'll probably lose but I'll give them a hard time. I went to a little town chess club at the recreation center and there were 6 guys there that called themselves the "Chess Nuts", they even had jackets that said chess nuts on them, and I played them all that night and won 5, the last guy was the club champion, he breathed and slept chess, he was lucky he won in a way, it was down to a couple pawns each and I think I recognized the situation and I think I could have won, but he got me. I'm an OK chess player, but on a good day when I've had my Wheaties, I'm a dynamo.
