NYC weekly vlog: my first week of work!

Annemarie, I really think you’re selling yourself short. I don’t get why you seem to think Shelby has some superior knowledge or skills. You’re both smart & talented. You went to a prestigious university, got a degree, you have experience working for a major corporation, you won that business challenge in AK, and as a viewer of both of your channels, I think your videos are of equal production quality. So why is it that both of you seem to think Shelby is doing you such a big favor? In reality, you’re helping her just as much. It’s a mutually beneficial relationship, but for some reason you’re both acting like you’re just an intern who’s still learning rather than the proven videographer and businesswoman that you are. Just from an outsider’s perspective, it seems like you’re letting your anxieties get the best of you and because of those anxieties, you’re undervaluing yourself.

Because Shelby has millions of viewers and Annemarie does not. I don’t think viewers are indicative of skill or talent but I know a lot of people do. It’s unfortunate because it means a lot people are overlooked.

@@Bostar17 Is it really a win win though? It’s just my personal opinion, but if Annemarie is struggling to afford clothes and food, Shelby isn’t compensating her adequately. Sure, the apartment they’re staying in is quite expensive, but it’s not Annemarie’s fault that Shelby picked such a large and costly AirBnB.

Ah I really appreciate the sentiment of this comment! It hits home bc I do think that anxiety has limited me quite a bit in my life. But something I feel I am overcoming! I have always admired Shelby's work ethic and ability to efficiently post and earn long term on KZbin - something that I have never really done since KZbin has never been my real job. I am learning a lot from her (even this format of vlog, which has a higher watch time than my usual format). This is why I offered to be her apprentice - to learn from an expert in her field! And I do think she knows that I am helping her a lot too. If we continue to continue after this month, she will pay me to work with her! Thank you for this! I do appreciate it a lot.

Just like unpaid internships are not right, this doesn't feel right to me either. Hopefully they can work it out so that Annemarie is properly compensated for her time and skills!

Hi @Annemarie, i think you have a positive vibes and i agree with many of the comments here. You are a university graduate and you can get good contents while working in NYC. You also can learn from your friends that are doing KZbin and producing content. Find out what are your strong points and come up with good topics that people of your peers talk about, activities and stuff. You are one lucky girl to be in NYC one of the infamous and interesting city in the world.

I feel like I love you already (first time here) because you've shared about your anxiety and are so being yourself. Not easy to do I imagine. xxxx I too love Eckhart Tolle! I said to someone once that he saved my life (when I was having a breakdown I picked up his book and it felt like it saved my sanity that day!). It really is a small world because this video was fed to me from the KZbin algorithm because I assume I'm a sub to Shelby's channel. I had remember seeing you in her vlogs but I didn't really actively search out to see whether or not you have a channel. Upon jumping to this video, I noticed it's about a month old so I went to your main channel feed to see what else is new on your uploads and saw the videos you uploaded that have your roommates as thumb nails and saw some people's faces that looked familiar.... Sure enough it's Kelly and Elliot. I am a sub to Elliot though I haven't watched many of his vids recently mainly because of the algorithm going wonky but hey a sub is still a sub right? I had remember Elliot had lived in NYC a while back for that internship and then moved to LA for a bit while they were in that crazy assssss house for a week. That was how I came across Kelly. Such a small world!! Wild!!! :D tldr: got a new sub.
