I have known his dad Wes for years, Dennis was about 10 years old, we had a shop across the street,we helped each other in lots of ways tooling, gave each other work, a great relationship baled each other out more than once. And then Dennis "grew up' suddenly he is programming running the shop and when it comes to the new technology he passed myself and his dad up at 200mph and picking up speed, lol I often told his dad how lucky he was to have 2 great sons. I have 2 great daughters not interested in machining lol. I have 51 years in the trade Dennis is the real thing in all aspects of life. He has my total admiration and respect, Great Kid

I run an NTX1000, and it's so much fun, and is such a beast compared to Mazaks and other lesser brands. Super easy to set up with transfer and "done in one" operation. We put a HALTER stacking robot system on it. I use the turret for rough, and B axis for finishing, since it will hold +-0.005mm all day every day in aluminium, while the turret is more prone to drifting by +-0.01mm during the day. It's amazing to use in Inconel as well, super rigid machine. Machining in both spindles at once is so convenient, and I don't think I could ever go back to a machine with only one channel. We're looking into a CMZ TTL, and I cant wait to try out superimposed machining with XZ axis on the sub spindle.

How many people work at this company? I ask out of interest as I have seen smaller shops with more people get less done. I hurt my back earlier this year and the realisation is coming that I can't stand at a machine for hours on end anymore and while I was always aware of automation, I now often ask why does someones value need to be on their ability to stand at a machine when the machine can be made to do the work and the worker can be doing something else. Great video.

Dennis is the 5th big shop I know that exited CA for anywhere else. The big tech companies don't care so much about location, they want parts at the lowest cost and the highest quality. They also have insanely good FedEx accounts so everything can be overnighted. (I was doing parts for an Intel project and had to ship something to Germany overnight, so the manager I was working with gave me the Intel FedEx account number. I walked in, gave the address and was quoted $179. Remembered I had the Intel account to ship on... $12.50. Even the FedEx retail guy was floored).
