Moral of the story: slide the hell away on wakeup, hold back... The Power Bomb and throw setplay is particularly good knowing that there's only two timings to cover for throw OKI. This is a fantastic video

This video is incredible, and the accompanying explanation on your blog is very insightful. Do you practice set ups for when your opponent does delayed wake up/no recovery? Most players like to quick rise when knocked down to give their opponent as little frame advantage as possible, so it seems like focusing on quick rise is best. Also people better start backrolling after EX Flash Chop, the set ups after that move are gross.

wow, awesome stuff man. this'll really help level up my garbage Alex

I was testing out Power Bomb setplay too, and I noticed that if I use a st.HK and they don't quick rise, I can afterwards whiff a st.LP and then press st.MP to have it hit meaty. Beause Alex moves forward with the st.HK, he gets in range for a st.MP st.MP link if he gets a counter hit, at least on Chun Li. Unfortunately, if I do this sequence with the fastest possible timing, the st.MP comes out too soon and it whiffs. I think the setup needs to have the st.LP or MP inputs delayed a frame or two to work, so I don't know how viable it is. Still, just sharing because I think that it's important to cover all bases and you need to know what to do if the opponent doesn't wake up the way you expect him to.

+tasian22 Not switching. Just playing a lot of Alex at the moment because I mained him in 3s and he's fun in V.

Does anyone have any tips on how to connect the st.HP after the sledgehammer in those combos near the end? I'm having trouble with this. Great video by the way!
@KWIZZ1878 жыл бұрын
Either from a crush counter or from v-trigger
@BeardedKaiju8 жыл бұрын
standing hard punch will only connect if you charge it all the way

Can't you just backroll out of all the ex chop setups?
@NYCDaFeetLee8 жыл бұрын
+The Broski yes I addressed this in my explanation post. Also, the very last combo in the video works against back recovery into 4F+ normals (doesn't work against 3F normals).

counter only sadly. I'm having a hard time getting it too but it's there. for right now once I land the elbow I mash cr.mp

I can't get it in neutral. it only seems to work on quick rise for me at least

question: for those bonus combos towards the end where you do Sledgehammer xx MP Chop, then go for some kind of reset after, would those combos have outright stunned if you ended in s.LP, s.LP xx LP Chop, which is still possible off a completely uncharged Sledgehammer??
@NYCDaFeetLee8 жыл бұрын
+DrSlouch no they would not outright stun (even if they did, the stun combo would scale so much that it would not kill the opponent anyway).

LOL So basically "hope your opponent doesn't backtech." Or are you saving that tech for the discord, bruh? Most of this was already posted on SRK, but it's nice to see it all in motion at least.
@amkkma8 жыл бұрын
+Liquid757 Most of his knockdowns cant be back teched since its mostly throws, stomp cant even be teched at all(always the same wakeup timing), after ex chop and ex elbow you can though, but I guess f.HP in a specific timing can work on quick and back tech, maybe not, but everything is useful anyway.
@runeofzod8 жыл бұрын
Yep, I agree, everything in this video is useful. Throws cannot be back teched, you are right, but you can't throw punish everything and you will never beat a competent player only doing throws. EX Flash also does so much damage and stun on top of being pretty fast that I feel using it liberally as part of your meter use isn't that bad of an idea. Back tech is one of my big problems playing this character right now. I was hoping to see some solid answers to it in this video, that's all. I'm assuming this character just doesn't have very good, if any, set play answers to it. Not 100% on the f+HP against back roll, but I think it is consistent enough to be a decent option.
@DrSlouch8 жыл бұрын
+Liquid757 what I'm about to say isn't great, but it is true: at the very least, even with no counter specific to a backtech, it's at least always pushing them to the corner. I know that it'd be better to hear/see a set-up you can actually do on backtechers but at least there's always that truth to keep in mind. also, i bet you could probably use headbutt/stomp as a risky hard read for those, at minimum
@artnos8 жыл бұрын
why dont you do some narration it would really help the video
@blakbro2k8 жыл бұрын
There are plenty of basics videos out there for that. You should know the character's moveset pretty well before trying some of these set ups.

well this video is for setups? i thought it would be insight for to hear about the thought process behind the setup.
