While this might make a few spots too murky to see past, the other 99% of the visible universe is completely within our field of view; the only thing preventing us from seeing farther is render distance. Buy render distance can't cut through those layers of dark glass. And thus, the ocean is scarier than space. That's why all the scariest elder gods live in the ocean.
