@@user-yv7dt5je1l I'm all for being able to protect ourselves and having a right to bear arms but as a NYer who rides the trains everyday I just can't help to think about how crazy everyone being able to carry guns on the trains would be. The average person is not a marksman so it would only be a matter of time before innocent bystanders will start catching strays. A bunch of us NYers armed on a packed NYC train scares me a bit. I'm not going to lie.

How many useless new toys is the city going to get? The NYPD robot, the MTA turnstiles designed to prevent fare dodgers but actually makes it easier, and now this gun detector when people are getting pushed onto tracks. All of the R&D money into all of this garbage could have gone towards simple platform barriers that are used in metro systems all over the world.

When I was in high school, we weren't allowed to bring our phones into the school (this rule changed during my second year). However, during those years, students thought up clever ways to sneak their phones into the school. One way I remember them doing so, was to slip their phones inside their shoes and slide them underneath the metal detectors as they walked through.. My point is, have the NYPD thought of *EVERYTHING* to prevent weapons from entering the subways? If not, this may not be 100% failproof. Also, let's not forget that guns aren't the *only* weapons that criminals bring into the subways. Will those detectors be able to identify all forms of weaponry? Will there be railing/walls installed to prevent people from being pushed onto the tracks?
