That's how it is "supposed to be". At least that's how it was in 2003 when my parents brought their first house, a 3 bedroom 1 bath bungalow built in 1932, it had knob and tube wiring, 1 wall outlet per room, some lead plumbing, and the electrical panel had the old school porcelain fuse holders with exposed terminals easily touched, and the "main breaker " was in a separate box with 2 fuses and a knife switch (ahh, the old Frankenstein movies) My parents were not required to have it updated although they did very shortly after moving in for obvious safety reasons, and it was the ideal starter home. And this was just outside of Port Huron, Michigan. Until the powers that be dictate otherwise.

I agree. But, as a business owner, I have to pay thousands and thousands for my lawyer. Then pay thousands and thousands of tax dollars to pay for the city lawyers as well. It should be "Loser Pays".

I agree, but to be fair, almost every ideology is the same way. Take the issue of reproductive rights. Both sides try to force the other to comply with their beliefs. One side wants to force women to have babies they may not want, at the expense of the woman who is pregnant and the rest of society who has to pay taxes to support schools, medical care, food, etc. for that child for years. The other side wants to force the rest of us to pay taxes to fund clinics and birth control and to require employers to pay for medical care that supports it. That's how ideology works. Everyone wants other people to pay the price.
