Film is under-rated. Great film about how expectations hold people back. People often forget Jude Law's character who is destroyed by the expectations that he must be great and exceed hence his suicide attempt (eventual success) and alcoholism. While Ethan Hawke is expected to have no dreams or aspirations as he isnt as physically blessed due to his natural birth.

this is a very good movie and it has to be in the top 100 movies made by Hollywood. The manner in which it presents its theme of a society where success is everything and superiority becomes dominance is just incredible. With a very interesting story and a plot full of suspense and twists there is no parallel of this movie. It was probably way ahead of its times. And that is why it neither won rewards or awards. Had it been made today it would have smashed records and won numerous awards. But its a great movie and will never age.

My personal favorite film of all time. It has affected my life beyond measure, and made me want to study film (and work towards becoming a worthwile filmmaker). It has gorgeous cinematography and set design, fantastic performances, top notch screen writing, and a heart not captured by most films ever released. It's as earnest as it is expertly made. A truly wonderful film. Thank god so many high schools show it in biology, as they did in mine. It may not be a commonly refererred to movie by film academics, but I'm happy to see so many kids get the chance to experience it. Even my best friend's fiance, who is not a big film person, remembers and loves it.

I saw this film in secondary school during our biology class when we were talking about genetics and the ethics and discussions concerning it. It was really good and a good way of getting people to see it and discuss one of the current issues in our society.

If you're reading this and you haven't watched this full video (and haven't seen the movie), STOP! Go rent or buy this movie immediately. Scott kind of ruins the emotional punch of the movie's ending in this review. It's a great movie to be inspired by, watch it as it was intended, not in little clips on yt.

This masterpiece of style, plot, soundtrack, theme/message got a grand total of ONE Oscar nomination. Most normal people would rather watch a movie like this 10 times over the "artistic" crap the Acadeeemy rewards. And yes, Im here because PARASITE was terrible.

am i the only person in the world who thinks the acting is like mediocre at best?? i thought the dialogue was super awkward and non-expressive and it made it really hard to sympathize with the main characters. i would understand the attempt to make the "opposition" feel cold and unforgiving, but its really baffling that the main characters also speak and act in that exact same style. its hard to feel connected to the main characters because they feel so emotionless. i think the actors did the best they could with the given script, but most of the dialouge just felt so weirdly cryptic and unnatural. the character development, as a result, felt extremely forced and flat. im willing to be told that its just a style thing and i just dont get it, but im curious if anyones agrees/disagrees for any particular reason. not sayin this isnt an interesting and brilliantly thought out story/idea, i just found some major flaws with the dialogue and character building. i love the story- it presents a very well crafted world with big questions about life and humanity that are dealt with wonderfully. i guess i just found it kinda hard to enjoy with the odd presentation...?

toasty i can’t fathom how you were not able to sympathise with Vincent and even more so with real Jerome. The non-expressive behaviour of their acting is a deliberate characteristic of the movie so we can appreciate the beauty of cinematography and the beautiful background music which elevates every scene into a classic . Also it denotes that since the fate of every individual is already is sealed they are expected to act in accordance to that genetic presumptions rather than showing emotions and expectations which a naturally born man like Vincent would . This is an almost universally loved movie which has become a cult classic and deservedly so .
@nihilisticbarbie6 жыл бұрын
No, I think it's suitable for the film style. The characters all seem a little cold and not leading emotionally fulfilling lives, because their lives are dictated according to how they were born. That's not much to get joy out of.
