Renzo Esposito is a junior at Gallatin pursuing a concentration in filmmaking for diversity and social transformation. Originally from Argentina, he immigrated to the US in 2019 to pursue his dream of directing and producing films. Since Renzo was 13, he has been involved in audiovisual projects, with a special focus on challenging narratives and helping underrepresented people spread their voices. This summer, Renzo will be working with Dialogo Diverso in Ecuador, a nonprofit organization dedicated to advocating for and upholding the rights of the LGBTQ+ community, women, and other vulnerable groups. He is eager to contribute his skills in video recording, editing, and the creation of potential short documentaries with Dialogo Diverso to bring awareness and explore the life of queer individuals facing forced displacement.
The Gallatin Global Fellowship in Human Rights is a year-long program that supports selected NYU students with funding to focus on these issues while working with human rights organizations. Fellows pursue extended projects and internships (including research and report writing) for the host organization during the summer. The fellowship aims to allow students to contribute to the host organizations’ work while gaining experience in the human rights field in ways that complement their academic trajectory at NYU.
