This video made me look into Chuck E. Cheese, and his backstory is fucking weird. He's canonically a 74-year old despite his young appearance, and was originally an orphan. However, he was so naturally gifted at pong that he won a $50 prize and was able to take a bus ride to NYC. He spent some time as a homeless person on the streets before being taken in by an italian pizza chef who was impressed that Chuck could sing.

Meh. I find the costume more charming than terrifying. He kinda looks dumb, though. Maybe he's a metaphor for the kid trying to accept his own monsters as who they are or something like that. That whole scene with the parents kinda remind me of a coming out. Both parents are there. You show them the truth about yourself that you only know about. You're anxious. You're scared of them rejecting you. They finally accept you for who you are because they love you. Maybe I'm thinking too deeply about this.

part of me almost wants to believe that Gooby is like, a homeless man that willy found to be his new dad, not knowing that hanging otu with a homeless guy is a bad idea, but the twist is that Gooby was willy's dad's childhood friend(or possibly boyfriend??) but like, that doesn't explain the whole weird "you have to transfer my weird benevolent guardian spirit to this lil sad girl" ending bit, which would still be creepy even if gooby was capable of emoting, and would be even more creepy if the "gooby is a weird bum that willy found" theory is right
