I'm Mexican, and sometimes watching content similar to this makes me uncomfortable especially when people discuss cartel videos. I've seen what is done over there and it's horrible but it always rubs me the wrong way how it's discussed by those who aren't from there. You truly never know how people end up tortured in those videos, how people think it's easy to avoid a fate like that and say shit like "well they got involved so they got what was coming". I know cartels are genuinely horrible, and I know family members who've been threatened by them, but I just want to urge people to educate themselves on the situation so that they don't end up sounding ignorant and xenophobic. Thank you for the great video May 💓!!

I'm brazilian and I'm just like used to my country being shat on constantly for all sorts of reasons but "They decapitate referees all the there and that's just a normal thing" is so absurdly xenophobic I can't even believe it's not a joke so it's kinda funny. Anyways your videos have improved my mood so much every time you upload and the amount of thought you put into all of these is so amazing

Yeah it's so weird. So much brutal stuff happens in English speaking countries too, guess people are just scared of the unknown. For what it's worth I think Brazil is a beautiful place! Discovering Brazilian music online (mainly 60s/70s samba and Novos Baianos since I tend to like US and UK "dad rock" lol) really sparked my interest in other culture's music There is a whole world of creativity out there that will never break through in America just because it's not sung in English. Kind of inspiring to think of how much there is out there to discover

Also Brazilian, also never heard about it. I do hear about violence during soccer matches, but it's mostly a few idiots fighting outside with fans of the opposite team. The last one I heard where someone got seriously hurt was a shock to everybody. We have our issues as a country, but it's just like every other place and the idea that we are all violent primitive people is xenophobic garbage.

i stepped away from plagued moth's content for stupid reasons like the editing and forgetting to cut a lot of waiting and reading out. i'm really lucky that leaving that long ago saved me from being exposed to that content with zero warning. may's content is so so so much more healthy and happy to consume anyway. in another way, seeing a trans creator so open about her life is incredibly comforting as someone who usually only hears from trans creators about transition (not that that doesn't help as well). from a trans man, thank you for everything may. i also bought fluids on my kobo and can't wait to read it!

My thoughts on Plagued Moth have been changing a lot. I used to watch his videos to learn about these things so I wouldn’t have to watch them. However, I began to really hate when he would include the audio or some photos. My final straw was when he made a video about the Uvalde shooting and showed clips from inside the school. As a teacher, this is my worst nightmare, and it sucked that I was exposed to those clips without any warning or permission. I truly don’t understand why people brag about watching these videos. Im sure Plagued Moth is a great guy, but the whole “hurter of feelings” brand he is taking on now just rubs me the wrong way.

I could listen to May talk about her favorite wacky animals that she happens to know about just as much as her talking about dark gruesome shit. Listening to May address it just makes me feel like I’m able to live a normal life with trauma and that it doesn’t get to control me, and that I can in fact control my life, once I recognize what the trauma is and how to move past it. Lady, this bit I took out of your transcript and cleaned up is fucking art. All by itself. It is genuine and clear and caring and while it is about NSFL content you can take the second half of it and tell it to anyone who is down a fucking hole. It is beautiful. Thank you for it. "Shit like this can color your existence. you watch it and you think that the world is a scary horrible place filled with horrible violence and gore and murder and Mayhem You know what? You're not wrong. You're not wrong. Those things are true. It is objectively true that murder and torture and pedophilia and shit like this exist. They exist and people do it and it's wrong and bad and we hate it. But as I said earlier get on your bike. Go feel the breeze in your hair. Walk past a fucking grocery store when it's really hot and the door is open and the AC comes out and it hits you in the face just right and you're like 'wow Life is Beautiful' Go hang out with your fucking girlfriend, dude. Go hold hands with someone. Go for a walk in a park. Go wear an oversized hoodie and smoke a cigarette. Fucking go live your life because this kind of shit is NOT gonna live your life. This is not your life. Your life is a beautiful life that you were given to do with whatever you want and you've chosen to sit here with me and learn about this. And I'm not necessarily saying you shouldn't sit here with me but I'm pleading with you, begging you even, NOT...not to stop living because of this. This is not worth it."

I literally got so much value out of these 4 videos. Thanks May for a) doing the fucking hard mental labour of actually intellectually engaging with these videos that apparently no one else is willing to do, and b) giving me a safe way to do so vicariously without having to actually traumatise myself in the process of watching them. I feel so empowered now like, I feel like I will never accidentally click on any of those videos, I know what's in them so I wont ever be tempted by morbid curiosity, and if I ever did see them I now have a homemade heuristic to make sense of the experience in a way that allows me to acknowledge the horror and still continue to live my life afterwards Bravo, just bravo

'Brazil scary because soccer riot' its wild to me that Americans never discuss European soccer riots or incidences of violence surrounding them- though that'd have to make them acknowledge a lot of the violence there is white Europeans being racist in response to nonwhite athletes either winning or loosing instead of blaming it on an inferior mind.

Not with the content itself, I mean it's supposed to be uncomfortable, but with the way they talk about it. Never thought this would be a video to inspire me. Ive been depressed a lot lately, and I havent shared my feelings to literally anyone in the past few weeks. I feel like I just burdened other people so much so I didnt. Im afraid that I havent lived life at all, too worried about what other people think. Id be made fun of for trying to fit in, standing out, doing anything. I feel theres religious standards for me that I will never meet and I will let my only in-person circle down. I dont like that my mom treats me like a child at 19 but I have to live with it. Ive spent a lot of my free time just wasting it on youtube. My anxiety condition is really bad and I have trouble with it. I have a lot of self standards like that I should have started college already and I should already be living on my own, ect. Im just put through a lot of stress lately and I needed that motivation to try to live life. Not be scared of the world outside of my house. Loved the message, thank you

I got into true crime after a really traumatic experience, I think as a way to underhand cope and be prepared. I’ve stumbled upon so many things that just say it’ll happen again. You’ve been a breath of fresh air in the disturbing media offerings. Much love.

These last two videos have been absolutely incredible, the amount of thoughtfulness you've put in, the way that you're making me rethink all the reactionary shit we all see everyday, amazing job. The ending part, about enjoying our lives, it really resonated with me. It's so interesting to me that one of the most insightful videos in years, with messages that I think everyone should hear and internalize, is in a NSFL video. Legit though - watching these has helped a lot with my own personal anxiety. Hearing someone just say; yeah, this does happen, death does happen and it does suck, is so refreshing to hear. I feel like generally we are so gaslit into pretending like it's not real, it's never going to happen to us, and if it does, it just means we get to go to some unguaranteed afterlife - to just get down to the brass tacks of it and hear someone say; it happens and it DOES suck, helps so much. Sorry for the huge wall of text but man your videos just keep getting better and better through the years and I can't wait to see what you put out next!

Thank you for constantly keeping empathy in mind as you take us through some of humanity's worst sides. You are a treasure. Also, I love the rain during the Fall. The way dark clouds make everything calm and grey, and the mist make all the dying leaves' bright embers blaze even brighter making everything light up and hide all the world away behind the last gasp before winter.

I’m so glad that I found this channel like 2 years ago, because I was in a super dark place 5 years ago and wanted to see how many dark and fucky wucky things in the world I could find. It’s so nice to have someone who has seen all these videos and educates their audience in this way, because now, I have essentially zero interest in looking into any of this. So thank you, May! I hope that you know how much I value your work and videos. They literally saved my mental health and probably life. I spend more time with my family and like to go outside and talk to people. Again, thank you so very much May! 🥰🥰🥰💕💕💕

this video-this SERIES has been so fucking cathartic to listen and watch to! the way you describe these videos or events followed by its nuances really grounds me as an audience member and as a human. i dont immediately begin dissociating or depersonalizing, im able to fully comprehend the weight of this iceberg, and it brings my humanity back. im not sure how else to explain it. Very good video, may! please be sure to find someway to detox from this and take of yourself ❤

I really appreciate both Moth's and your take on the NSFL Iceberg. While Moth's videos do satisfy my morbid curiosity, your take on the Iceberg has been very eye-opening with the political background of these videos, especially the narco stuff. And thanks for calling out the xenophobia in the gore community. Even when I was an edgelord teenager lurking Ogrish and Bestgore I thought it was a bit much.

"brazilian people are savage primitives" is so funny to hear while i, a brazilian, am in bed in a very uncomfortable position watching nyx fears and eating chocoballs cereal with yogurt 😭 btw yeah, there's a whole history of violence between soccer team supporters here but i'm not that well educated in it to talk about it.

I remember about these cases. It's more of a "The cartel" thing. Most things you'd call NSFL that happen in the crime dens of Rio's favelas are actually taken directly from torture practices ensued by police officers to criminals while in imprisonment. The institute of the western hemisphere (the current iteration of the school of the americas) is still active and brazil still has not officially withdrawn involvement in enlisting military officers into the school. In fact mass torture is quite the thing in brazilian prisons. Brazilian military police officers learn to torture prisoners from american officers, and those prisoners learn to torture their enemies from that. So while ppl do have the fame of getting aggressive because of soccer, it has a lot more context than just we being barbaric compared to caucasians, the people FAMOUSLY KNOWN FOR RESPECTING HUMAN DIGNITY THROUGHOUT HISTORY

I've been falling into the Big Sad again and I default to looking at terrible things I guess to make me feel like I don't have it as bad, but I end up, obviously, coming away scared. What you said really made me stop and say "Hey. Maybe let's not look at a gore website. Let's play Sims and have fun instead." Thanks May. 💕

This is honestly unrelated to the video other than your part at the end, but coming from someone who used to be extremely sensitive, depressed and honestly agoraphobic, thank you for your words. It means so much to come from someone who doesn't even know you, in the sense that you don't even know who I am, yet you still care. Thank you. Hearing the encouragement to enjoy the gift of life is something I don't often hear, so I appreciate it a lot.

the ending of this video was nearly enough to make me cry. i used to suffer from severe anxiety and depression, to the point where i couldn’t envision myself living long past high school. i’m 27 now and in a much, much better place, but i used to spend so much time being upset and angry about the horrible things in the world. now i’m old enough to understand that caring about others’ pain does not mean that i have to torture myself over it - my suffering does not alleviate anyone else’s suffering. there is so much value, so much meaning, in letting yourself love life. let yourself experience joy, so that you might spread it. we all know the world is capable of extreme violence - it is a radical act to focus on the love within it instead.

I feel the weight of my impact on others so heavily that I have avoided having any impact at all when possible. Your treatment of all of this, some of the worst humanity has to offer, to educate and allow as safe an exploration as possible is an incredible example of someone trying their best to make sure that their impact has a net positive impact on the lives you touch, and I just want to thank you for that. I always want everyone, even people I don't like, to think of their own mental health before providing content. I hope that you're able to do that as much as possible. I derealize and depersonalize without even a thought lately, which I know I need to get to therapy again for. I'm more focused on making sure that the people around me are doing alright and improving. Please make sure that you're taking care of yourself and allowing others to take care of you 💛
