And the only person that can get them better players is the general manager with the green light from the owner And the owner doesn't seem to wanna do that. My preferred offensive trade deadline acquisition is Jonathan India (1st in MLB in OBP among 2B and top 15 at all positions) and my second half lineup looks like this: 1) 2B - Jonathan India - R 2) RF - Juan Soto - L 3) CF/LF - Aaron Judge - R 4) LF/CF - Jasson Dominguez -S 5) C - Austin Wells - L 6) DH - Giancarlo Stanton - R 7) 1B - Ben Rice - L 8 ) SS - Anthony Volpe - R 9) 3B - Jorbit Vivas/Oswaldo Cabrera/Jon Berti - L/S/R Bench: Narvaez or Treviño (when healthy) Verdugo or Grisham Cabrera Berti (when Healthy) (or Vivas if Berti is playing) Rizzo - gone (phantom IL) DJ - gone (phantom IL, trade, DFA) Torres gone (trade preferably) JD Davis gone (DFA probably ) Grisham or Verdugo gone (trade one before the deadline preferably) - only need to keep one of the two of them Jahmai Jones probably gone (DFA probably) when Berti is ready I would definitely like to see Cabrera play over Lamahieu and Davis.. (Berti, if healthy also should be able to make an impact and would be second in the 3B depth chart ahead of Cabrera). That said, the guy I really want to see them give opportunities at 3B is Jorbit Vivas. I have no idea why they called him up for 3 days before the break and didn’t get him a single at bat. He should be the Yankees starting 3B right now IMO. He’s got a .390 OBP in 140 AAA plate appearances and a .380 OBP in over 400 at AA last season. I like paredes enough, but he’s a dead pull hitter from the right hand side (pulls 53% of all his contact and all 70/70 career HR are to the pull side) which makes him a bit of a weird fit for Yankee stadium.. that said, he’s 3rd among MLB 3B with a .355 OBP, so I would definitely take him.. I’m just worried about what that trade would look like within the division - Tampa will ask a lot and I don’t want to make them stronger in the future. I fear that Hal/Cashman/Boone will be too worried about the money and the locker room to let Rizzo, DJ and Gleyber all go, but I think they should take the plunge and do it. The players will be happy when they are winning again.

I know what the Yanks said about Jazz. But i think thats trade tactics. Jazz fills in the lead off role. Plays 2nd. Get rid of Torres. Get Scott from Marlins and take Holmes out of closer role, put him in the BP for 7th or 8th inning. Thatd be a GOOD start at the deadline. We need 5-6 guys. Derek, I haven't heard any anyone talk about how MLB has diluted the standard of excellence required to even be considered a playoff contender by lowering the requirement to qualify. What does this do? It keeps potential trade prospects on teams that "may" win in the post season that would otherwise be traded to teams that need to bolster for the playoffs!

What would be THE ONE TRADE that could change things the most for NYY? It’s crazy, and highly unlikely granted, but this one acquisition might change EVERYTHING. Trade for Ramirez from Cleveland, to bat behind Judge. It’d take a lot, Spencer Jones, Hampton, Rice, and somebody not named Dominguez. Maybe include Cortes.

The best way for this flawed team to improve is for the IL players like Dominguez, Stanton, Effross, Schmidt, Berti, and Poteet to return, promote Peraza, Vivas, and Neely ASAP, and for Cashman to make non-blockbuster trades to get some low strikeout, hard contact bats to help at third, second, left field, and DH. Expendable players on the mlb roster that should be dfa'd or traded include JD Davis, Jahmai Jones, Gleyber Torres, DJ LeMahieu, Alex Verdugo, Trent Grisham, Tommy Kahnle, and Jose Trevino.

We have good baseball players, who are playing so badly. The talent level is there. Wtf 😬 it doesn’t make sense that we are THIS bad. Verdugo is a .270 hitter. Torres, also, as recently as last year, is a .270 hitter. Volpe hit .220 last season but had some pop and won a gold glove. Wells is doing great, Soto is amazing, judge is judge. Maybe it’s the home runs we consistently give up every single loss? Our starting pitching is complete shit. I really don’t get it. 🤦‍♂️ I think this season is over tho. Love the show! I've been watching and listening to the Yankees since the late 1960s (the CBS years...ugh.) Aaron Boone needs to go. Period. Cashman needs to go. Period. Hal Steinbrenner needs to take a hard look at his father's legacy and honor it by molding the team into an organization that would make George proud. To do that, a competent manager would inject real strategy/tactics into each at bat like Bill Virdon/Billy Martin/Joe Torre did...bunt to draw the infield in, have a steady, somewhat set lineup, bunt and run, hit and run, put runners in motion, steal, etc ., in other words, force the action and put pressure on the other team. The Yankee greats would NEVER stand for the utter complacency that is a cancer on this team from the top down. My prediction for this team is that, as currently constructed, they WILL NOT come close to making the playoffs, let alone winning a championship. Why would ANY free agent ever want to sign with a team that is not truly committed to winning. Period. Sorry for the long rant...this team for the last decade reminds me of the CBS owned garbage of the pre-George Steinbrenner years.

On one hand, yes this has been their pattern for years, especially under Boone, but patterns change & this one might be timely since they do have alotta cushion built up. One spark plug could put them on track & I think it's Domingus. All or nothing teams like the Yanks have to have at least one. Every player slumps, but when they do complacency doesn't motivate reversal, passion does, a lil anger does. Some one should get pissed off & remind everyone their play is embarrassing. The manager could get creative & push the envelope, but that's not Boone, so they need a Paul Oneil or David Wells type. They need an angry man who plays angry & doesn't except mediocrity.

BUT they only owe G about $25m per year which isn’t horrible and somebody might look at Rodon and see something (might be a can’t perform in NY thing). We'd normally be seeling but the hot start and somehow 60 wins has given the impression this team is a contender. Maybe they can contend for a Wild Card (Red Sox and Mets are still contending with a worse record) BUT we need so many pieces now post June 1 that we will literally GUT the entire farm system for these pieces. If we fail to reach the playoffs then we lose our farm AND we lose Soto, and then the team is doomed long term. Part of me thinks we should sell and stock our current good farm system more, and then try and sign Soto in the offseason and try and start over. The team is well beyond a normal slump. The team is broken.

The Yankees will be fine. They had the best record in baseball for weeks on end. They lose a few games and everyone's got their panties in a bunch. All championship teams go through slumps, folks. You can't ignore all the positives just because they're not winning every single game. They have the three best power hitters in MLB. The starting rotation is superb. They have an electrifying, Mattingly-caliber rookie at first base. If they get a closer and Stanton is healthy, they'll be in the World Series and probably win it.

Why bother even talking about this team. Consistency is one characteristic of a true pro. This team is consistently inconsistent! Gerritt Cole tends to fold and seemingly give up when things don’t go his way. Fourteen wins to win a Cy Young last year is suspect. This team lacks direction and a manager who always looks for the positive when there are none to be found. Be honest, Aaron ! This is a go nowhere team! This is near rock bottom in Yankee history. The Yankees think the Mets are tough now? Wait until they see Soto in a Met uniform! Get a manager who will give an honest evaluation of performance and bench underachievers regardless of salary. Not another yes man!
