The dumbbells look pretty cool! A tip for cutting silicone moulds, if you cut in a zigzag it helps to line the sides up again for pouring, a straight line can lead to the seam being slightly off.

Maybe putting a thin layer of resin in first before the pieces could have prevented the sanding effecting how they looked. You have done this before to place pieces in perfect spots.
@dirpdanger88393 жыл бұрын
Also you could cast pieces in their own small blocks of resin and then put them inside to give a more floating appearance.

I'd have a done a clear pour after everything was set & mould lines removed; then no need to sand or polish anything but the underside where any drips would remain sticking out, & no risk of cutting into the filler.

This project actually kind of speaks to me. I don’t drive, so I walk here and there. I find a lot of things on my walks, but a big portion is stuff like this. I find interesting bolts and other metal items, and I have a ton of ideas for them that involve for example using a large bolt as a handle or lever of something.

LOVE YOUR WORK!! but a help full tip to keep your mold from needing to be over patched so it wont leak next time instead of cutting the molds "both sides" i would cut one side/corner and then give it the old blast with the air compressor. it will help split the item your casting from the mold with out having to cut the other side to make it better for your resin castings. keep up the great content mate! you inspire 1000's of people like my self!

You should have weighed all the random things you were going to add, divided that number by four and then separated the items to achieve each weight so that each dumbell weighed the same, and each side was even as well!
@jordan_roadhouse47982 жыл бұрын
Why add that work? They cannot be used as real weights so it would be literally pointless.
@UsDiYoNa2 жыл бұрын
@@jordan_roadhouse4798 the point of the extra work would be the fact that they actually could be used if the weight was even lol
@jordan_roadhouse47982 жыл бұрын
@@UsDiYoNa Nah i'm not saying anything about weight distribution making the weighrs workable. I mean as in, have you ever seen people use weights? They throw them abour and drop them them. It would break the things. Go to any gym and you'll see what i mean.

I'VE BEEN WATCHING YOUR CHANNEL FROM WHEN YOU FIRST STARTED WORKING IN YOUR SHED NEXT TO THE HOUSE AND FROM YOUR VERY FIRST PROJECT. YOUR CHANNEL DESERVES THE RECOGNITION ,AS DOES YOUR SON'S CHANNEL THAT IS GROWING. CHARLIE HAS GROWN IN CONFIDENCE IN THE TRADE THAT HE HAS CHOSEN. IT APPEARS THAT HE WANTS TO FOLLOW IN YOUR FOOTSTEPS AND THAT ISN'T A BAD THING AT ALL. IT IS GOOD FOR TO SEE IN THIS DAY AND AGE CHILDREN LEARNING FROM HOME FROM THEIR PARENT'S.
