This song takes me back to my teenage years. I had just met my girlfriend who would become my wife. Lots of great memories going with her to shows in Merrillville Indiana all of those years the Oaks performed there during the Holidays. We lost her to Breast cancer a few years ago at age 48 but whenever I miss her I play this video and were back watching The Oaks and having fun

The bass singer is Richard Sterban, who is not just singing bass, but contra-bass, a bass range lower than actual bass which is incredibly difficult to sing. This guy could hit some mean, scary notes man.
@contumelious-84406 ай бұрын
@idontanswerquestions9879 said: "The bass singer is Richard Sterban, who is not just singing bass, but contra-bass, a bass range lower than actual bass which is incredibly difficult to sing." No, he is not. Sterban has a typical bass singer range (E2-E4) with Sterban able to extend the upper for a range of E1-E4. He doesn't have an extended lower range. Contra bass is a term exclusively for musical instruments, there is no such thing as a contra-bass singer. You are an idiot. Sterban is an accomplished vocalist and his range reflects a typical bass singer. You fan-boying on him doesn't increase his range. In fact, I suspect if he saw this exchange he would be embarrassed and angry at YOU for lying about him.

Oh wow what a night ! Way back when $20.00 for a ticket was a LOT of money (Plus I had to travel,, and buy something to eat, I sa the Oakridge Boys live, and when it was supposed to be over some of us stayed, and applauded until we got an encore. They said "Don't you people ever go home?", but they did a few more song for the encore, and then came to the edge of the stage, and bent down we could shake their hands, It's been all these years later, and I can sill remember it as if it were yesterday, Wow what a night !

Norm Macdonald was on Letterman and told David he got to meet Randy Travis backstage, and was excited about it because he was a big country fan. Letterman says to him, “Oh ya like country music, do ya? New stuff? Old stuff?” And Norm says, “No, I like the old stuff. The new stuff is gay.”

There was a arcade shooting gallery at Six Flags over Georgia in the old west section. If you hit the target on the piano a portion of “Y’all Come Back Saloon” song would play. I think the song was still there all the way up into the late 00’s. Which was the last time I was there. I’m sure it’s long gone by now.

So, when folks make a big deal of insisting music is as good or perhaps way better than 30-40 years ago, do they mean there's a modern-day version of the Oak Ridge Boys out there somewhere? Seems to me lots of musical styles and approaches from the recent past are being lost or forgotten.

Well, I can say. after playing thru ALL 3 pages (many just copies, or, some, copies of copies, with the sound or video, sometimes both, being off/out of sync) the other live video clips here, that this first video in the que is still the best live video here on youtube of this song! I love all the video's of this channel, and wish to thank whomever took the time and care to make it for the greater youtube audience. Thank You, "When The Cowboy Sings", and great job. The time you invested in gathering and then converting all those videos was a large task, and just know that many people appreciate your efforts! :-) And, it seems the original is, as always, the best...as always. So, no need even clicking the others to check it out, please take my word for it: the others either have the band off, or 1 of the Oak Ridge Boys 'off' or seemingly just not into the performance.
