When our son & I went saw our Brewers in Oakland, Milwaukee took a 1-0 lead. Our then 9-year-old started high-volume chanting “Let’s Go Brewers!” as he innocently did and does. No intent of rubbing it in, just genuine love for his favorite team. Within the next 60 seconds, it felt like 10,000 A’s fans were defending Oakland’s honor with “Let’s Go Oakland!” That chant means something. That team means something. So much more than we knew walking in that night. John Fisher, sell the team. And for the good of a hurting but awesome city, “Let’s Go Oakland!”

Man what a franchise. It brings tears to my eyes when I think of what could have been. The A’s, whether you agree or not, had a bright past and a bright future. You can’t replace what this franchise accomplished, and you can’t replace the fans that were there for them every step of the way. Oakland has became a lost cause, something that people don’t care about anymore, but they can’t ignore just how much the green and gold meant to Oakland. At some point the colosseum, the heart of Oakland, will be demolished as the A’s move out of it; their home for as long as I can count, which was once was a spirit inducing, storied stadium that encapsulated and defined the spirit of Oakland, will be gone with the wind. You can replace the Athletics, but you can never replace the Oakland Athletics. Long live green and gold.
