Joanne Lateef They get huge and have to be torn out after just about 4-5 years when planted in tight areas like it is now. They are pretty in spaces like that when they are small. I totally disagree with planting dense plantings near entrance ways and building walls. It is a safety concern as those who seek to do harm to others can hide there. Or, they can stage things there to harm others later. Always keep safety and security in mind when landscaping entrance areas to churches and schools.

Unfortunately, I put them in an area where they don't get enough sun and they haven't done well at all. A couple have died and the others are leggy and puny. The one you just planted is gorgeous and I hope it fares much better. I would move my surviving ones, but have a lack of choice for sites which are protected from the deer.

@Mavon005 жыл бұрын
Japanese Maples do fine in containers. I use a 50/50 mix of peat moss and good quality mulch (black and fiberious). They do not like to be wet (only moist). Drainage is very important for Japanese Maples. As for the pot size, its better to have a smaller pot than a pot to large. The general rule of thumb is to double the size of the pot when re-potting is necessary. When you see roots growing out the bottom of the pot its time to re-pot. A pot that"s to large will retain moisture which will bring a host of problems. Japanese Maples trees (i.e Goodblood) will grow about 1 foot per year. The pot should last 1-2 years.

Is that tree's root system going to pose a problem for the building foundation? I never know what the rule is when it comes to how far away from a structure you should plant a tree. Anyone know?
@StaceyHerewegrowagain5 жыл бұрын
In my experience with property maintenance, large trees like Oaks can pose a problem with the root system disturbing the foundation because they are so big. I'm not sure if the smaller ones cause the same issue, but I know once an oak tree gets to be 50 to 100 yrs old, the roots can start running underneath the house and can lift it up in some cases, possibly cracking the foundation. The oaks here in Florida are protected and you actually need a permit with an explanation why you need to take it down, plus they make sure you replace it with another one somewhere on your property. They seem to plant such huge trees right on top of the houses. We have so many around here. I guess it would all depend on the way the roots are forming under the house. That being said.. I have no doubt Laura knows what she's doing🤗 She's so great and filled with so much knowledge! It's so great to meet you!

First of all, I love your videos. That said, I couldn’t help but notice your church’s name in the background and now I find myself wishing I hadn’t seen it. I’m having a hard time reconciling your church’s ant gay/anti trans beliefs with what I know of you as a public person and as someone I have wholeheartedly supported. I respect people’s right to hold whatever beliefs they want, but not when those beliefs are harmful those around them. By choosing to show your church on your channel you have made your personal religious beliefs public, and some of those beliefs cause real harm to the lgbtq community. I hope I’m mistaken, and would welcome some clarification on your part.
@tolisings5 жыл бұрын
ryanedwardscott Hello there, first i don’t like to comment much on social platforms because it’s so hard to see emotion and feeling behind what someone is trying to say, but I am thankful for the freedom of speech we still have in this country. So I want to start off by saying I am saying this with my heart filled with love and pain for this community. I want to say that This is such a fragile topic and I don’t mean any harm to anyone or hurt anyone’s feelings. All I want to point out is truth. I pulled this from the churches website, to me it seems that they are not harmful to the community but they are willing to help those that are broken from sin. (lgbt is usually a product of either a broken family or sexual abuse, every lgbt person I know, statistics confirm this, is a victim of sexual abuse in their childhood. I myself, had I not known the Lord Jesus Christ who told me who I am and spoke the truth over my life would have strayed into this sin. The statistics for suicide are also very high for the lgbt community because of the depression it causes, that said I pray for this community, I feel it is harm to support an act that we know can lead to suicide (not from a spiritual perspective) if we truly care for this community we need to help them get healed not encourage more pain and hurt. Quote: We believe there is found through Christ hope for the broken-physically, spiritually and emotionally. (Psalm 147:3; Luke 9:42; James 5:14-15) In this statement, we are declaring our trust in the power of Christ to restore and transform lives that have been broken and marred by sin. For many, the human condition has become beyond desperate. Hopelessness seems to reign. But we continue to place our faith in Christ to restore those who call upon His Name-even those whom the world would declare to be broken beyond all hope. Hope this doesn’t offend anyone, because it is not my intent to offend. I love every person who has labeled themselves an lgbt.
@ryanedwardscott5 жыл бұрын
@@tolisings I can tell that you're trying to be thoughtful in your response, and I do choose to believe that most people of faith don't mean harm to lgbtq people directly, but it's clear to me that you're coming from a place of judgement about a topic that you really know nothing about. I disagree with most of what you've written, and in the spirit of "truth", which you claim is important to you, I have some thoughts. First of all, there's no connection between being gay and being the victim of child abuse. "Knowing" someone who's had this experience is anecdotal at best, and there're about a million scientific studies that disprove this supposition. It's akin to connecting gay men with pedophilia (which is also categorically untrue). You mention suicide being an integral part of the lgbtq experience, but what you fail to consider is how a person's sense of community is directly related to their over all mental health and well-being. When religion and culture continuously tell a person that they're "sinners", broken, and need to change who they are, it creates feelings of isolation, shame, fear, and yes, in some cases suicide. Most lgbtq people would attest to feeling different as children, long before they understood what it meant. It's been proven over and over again that you can't alter a person's sexuality or gender identity, and that faith based initiatives that seek do so are incredibly damaging. And you certainly can't claim to love the lgbtq community, while simultaneously telling them that who they are and who they love is fundamentally wrong. I don't expect to change your feelings around this topic, but I would hope that by having these conversations people of faith would take a long hard look at the beliefs they ascribe to, and perhaps do to some independent research outside of their religious echo chambers. I asked Laura for clarification because she's a public person and she chose to show her church in her videos. To be honest it's heartbreaking to realize that someone you admire and support would believe this nonsense. I have yet to hear anything from her, and I can only imagine that she's hoping to avoid the negative press that would come with an honest response.
@tolisings5 жыл бұрын
ryanedwardscott Hey there thanks for the response. I was one of those children that felt different growing up, so I can’t agree with you, when you say I know nothing about this topic, the countless KZbin testimonies of former lgbt persons coming out and getting set free are also hard to ignore. I want to reiterate what I wrote previously, had I not known God I would be a apart of this community, because I would have people all around me telling me that I am ok, that I was born like that and that this is who you are, and so on to what is being preached everywhere today which I cannot agree with.
