No, you are wrong. Oarfish are sensitive to tectonic plate activity that generate electromagnetic pulses and electric screech. Witnessing them washing up on shores literally signifies an impending disaster. Do you understand?
@GHOST-hd4wm2 күн бұрын
The wildfires in California are a direct result of the Pacific tectonic plate being pushed under the North American plate causing a phenomenon known as subduction. Subduction generates immense amounts of heat that ignites and burns anything within close proximity to the tectonic activity.

If I recall, they live deep in the ocean and it's likely that hydrothermal vents produce some sort of toxicity that kills them, which coincides with oceanic earthquakes that cause tsunamis.

Hey! that's a really cool theory and it might be true, but it hasn't been proven yet. While writing this episode we interviewed lots of marine biologists and they all told us the same thing: we still don't know for sure what kills or why they show up in clusters. It's a fascinating topic though!

for anyone unaware, the reason sonar is an issue is that even if humans are nearby the effects are....absolutely catastrophic and horrendous. i can only imagine how it is for fish especially one that can't control its depth. and the fact there's only a slowly increasing quantity of sonar systems definitely doesn't help.
