Mate, i think you should spin around on the chair for your opening. And i have always thought that Oasis tapped into the zitgist was and is remarkable. I love Be Here Now and late and early 2000 Oasis. They are so much more than the first 2 albums and the last of the rock stars..stand by.

Why oh why oh why . That's the question of these 2 getting back on stage again. Well 20 million reasons for Noel Gallagher anyway. The cost of his divorce and Liam Gallagher,god knows why he's doing it. You can guarantee if he didn't have that divorce he wouldn't have touched this with a barge pole. Sad and pathetic really and I'm an oasis fan FFS !! Just leave it be lads . please 🥺

I also never understood the Beatles comparison, they don't sound anything alike. More like Slade, but I can't say they sound like The Stone Roses - definitely not. One of the big problems with Oasis is that they were such bellends. All this "we're the best band in the world" nonsense. No humility, just coked up knobs. Sneering with disdain at their fans from the stage. They were an average blues rock guitar band who got lucky and wrote singalong choruses. Lyrically they were lazy - just random words that rhymed, no meaning to them. And yet they claimed to be the best songwriters ever. If they had just been less obnoxioius, I'd probably be less vocal about how much I dislike them.

I get what you mean about Slade. I think, to me they sound like the Stone Roses because their earlier stuff was basically Liam trying to be Ian Brown. And yes, they were obnoxious, but much of that was the media poking them to say something controversial.

@@roblewis3799one of the reasons I do talk about how much I dislike them is that I genuinely can’t see the appeal. The music wasn’t interesting, especially compared to the other great stuff at the time, and they were vile people. So, much as you (and I) can’t fathom how people would vote for Trump, I can’t fathom why Oasis got so big. I’m interested in why people like them. Re: them being bellends. They weren’t being poked by the media. They were just bellends. 😅 Musically, compared to the Stone Roses there’s zero commonality. Oasis drew on blues and glam rock, lots of big solid chords and walls of noise. The Roses came from the dance scene and had much less structure to their songs with MUCH more groove.

You're entitled to your opinion, even if it's wrong. Their songs are top notch and Noel is a genius with melody.

@@joeterzio7175 sure, we're all entitled to our opinions. Brian Wilson was a genius with melody. Carole King is a top notch songwriter. The Gallaghers can't get anywhere close to the genuine greats of modern music, apart from in the "fooling most of the people, most of the time" category.
