Man I'm loving Liam's solo stuff lately, I'm honestly not too worried if Oasis do get back together. It might be best to leave well enough alone, they achieved monumental things. Why overstay your welcome? Now we get two great bands releasing music instead of one, Liam and Noel's. However, I do hope for both Liam's and Noel's sake they one day fix things though and become brothers again. That being said I would still be excited if they did decide to give it another go, especially now Liam's voice sounds great again.

My sentiments exactly, you wrote that well. They're both doing great as "solo" artists, so the best thing would be to just let them both do their own thing as far as music goes.

I agree 100% with this Parfitt95, best to leave well enough alone. Based on what James talks about in this video it is clear any reunion attempt would produce nothing but disappointment and disaster. i think there is so much to this story, because the way the media went after Liam clearly affected him. The media would often play up their fights and make jokes about it so much that it became part of every interview. Noel would often make jokes about leaving the band which would upset Liam and make him think Noel was conspiring with the media. But there’s also times noel has called out the press for hounding Liam. I don’t think it’s all on liam for what caused the rift in their relationship. I feel for Noel deeply, but it’s so clear his brother was struggling badly with the press. You can look back at old interviews of liam and see how laid back he is. Despite the bad blood, there clearly is a lot of love between them.

It’s pretty simple. Me and my brother were both raised in a very abusive household. VERY ABUSIVE!!! We have always loved each other and would do many things together, but the truth is that each others presence would constantly remind us of our trauma and as we got older this became a major issue. We would fight over the most mundane shit, until one day, we blew up, said terrible things and it came to blows. We didn’t talk for 6 years. Finally, both of our wives got us together and demanded we get therapy. It took another 4 years before we could be comfortable around each other. I was eldest and dealt with the majority of our father’s abuse, but both of us suffered many terrible things. We are now on good terms, spend lots of time together and our families do many activities together. We aren’t rock stars or people in the news on a mass scale, yet it still effected our relationship. These guys need intensive therapy and I’m not sure either will ever admit it.

I actually wrote a comment on oasismaniaoffial’s post a year or so ago which Liam actually ended up responding to. I wrote something about an Oasis reunion wouldn’t be a great idea. The public image/reputation of the band around the DOYS album (2007-2009 era) was really not great and I didn’t wish the bad rep would re-emerge if the band went back into the public. Right now Oasis has a healthy reputation because of the past (like other bands that cease to exist) Liam ended up responding to my comment saying “Nobody’s asking you so sit down zip it” I might have hit a soft spot 🤷🏼♂️ Anyway I’ve got the comment printed and framed on my wall lol Cheers and thank you for the constant Oasis mini documentaries James! No it wouldnt at ALL LOL. Definitely Maybe is coming up on 30 years in 2024... Morning Glory the year after... Maybe you dont know how touring works, which is fair, but.... to create a massive tour 2 YEARS before MAJOR anniversaries start happening (which means special edition re-issues, and allll of the stuff that goes with it) would be idiotic, as a tour's main job is to promote a product of some kind.. I cant see a new album coming, so with that, the BEST time to start the ball rolling, not even the shows, but simply the announcement, promo, n tix going on sale, would be approx 6 months before the 30 year anniversary of when it all began, Definitely Maybe, which would be SUMMER of 2024, n then they could STAY on the road, promoting re-issues of that one etc ALL THE WAY until October 95, the 30th of Morning Glory, and keep going on another re-issue romp for another year or more, soaking it alllll up. I'd make the announcement n start promo campaign in December 2023, and would be hitting the road by May or June, creating hype n momentum for the Definitely Maybe re-release shenanigans, n with my plan, could keep it going globally for 3 years at least. And believe me, these factors are a major consideration when talking tours of this importance, status, and size. Squeeze every possible drop out of the opportunity. So to start NOW, in spring 2022? Makes no strategic sense whatsoever, on any level. \m/
@cessxiii2 жыл бұрын
The Eagles announced their reunion, n quickly had an unplugged companion album to sell and promote on the tour.. GnR announced their reunion in 2016, by mid 2017 Appetite For Destruction special editions came.... N since, they've kept dropping things periodically. This was all part of the plan. To not do it this way would 100% downsize the entire thing, and I believe Noel and Liam would have 0 interest in reconnecting in a downsized format... lol

I see myself in them, being working class and having an alcoholic father, even though I'm not even from the UK. Music and art were my escape from reality. He also mentioned that Oasis was his biggest achievement but it's part of the past but no one knows what can happen in the future. And he ended up saying "it's good that Liam's Twitter rant is at peace. Hope it keeps like that" He clearly likes that Liam is not insulting him or his family lately. Great video. The only reason I would want them to get back together, is to show the millions belonging to the new generation how great they are and to have a second chance of being huge in the United States (they were big, but not as massive as in the rest of the world). I also think they are the only band that has people calling the overrated, when true Oasis fans know that Noel is a one in a generation song writer and they have dozens and dozens of amazing songs that were eclipsed by others and media coverage about them in the 90’s. They set the bar to high with their first two albums (both of them also havin truely underrated songs), but the later albums also have some very good and underrated songs. Their style, influence, significance, representation and many other things still can’t be matched to this day. Also think other 90’s band such as Nirvana (very good, though), have had help from the press to portrait them as better than what they were. Commercially speaking they also had help. Not Oasis. With that kind of coverage and some better decision making by Liam and Noel (for example, the MTV Unplugged incident and some unfortunate things said about the US, they could have been even bigger). But they were massive in UK as maybe no one or some few bands, the all time great ones. And, at the end of the day, every decision they took is what made Oasis what they are now. So no regrets. Love them.

Forget oasis. They need to reconcile as brothers before one of them or their mother (god forbid) passes. Nobody need to live out their days with that level of regret. It’s enough to age you early
@annaofcleves55562 жыл бұрын
That’s exactly how I feel as well. I don’t care if Oasis reunite but they need to make up, at least for the sake of their mother. I believe they will regret it if they don’t do it before she passes on (which I hope won’t happen soon)

Well put together video James. Oasis were a fantastic live band that I see many times back in the 90s but it's a moment in time. If your lucky enough to be around at the time it's great. Bands shouldn't be going on for 500 years like U2 , the longer you go on the more you destroy your legacy. Paul Weller had the right idea with The Jam, stop at your peak. Move forward, have no rear view mirror in you career as a musician ..

James thank you very much for the Oasis historical background you provide in this video. You have done a number of these and you have done a great job with all of them. It is kind of depressing to me tho. It plays back old tapes from my own childhood/adolescence, Catholic church and upbringing, authoritarian old school father, etc. That leads me to my own conclusions regarding the two brothers. But first let me ask you what do you hope to get from a reunion? And realistically how do you think it is possible? These two are carrying around a lot of garbage with them that has built up from the deep past which you allude to in the video. What would be required to start a joint cleansing for the two? I am not a psychologist but it would seem there would need to be some kind of professional help required to get thru all that past BS going back to childhood. Not easy. Can you imagine those two in the studio or practice sessions now? Noel had complete control in the Oasis days. Is that going to be the case now? The situation would seem to be highly instable. Just one little thing to provoke a memory of the past and then what do you have? Noel's right James IMHO. He sees the situation for what it is: a huge likelihood of disaster and disappointment and he is not inclined to to give in to fans wet dreams about a reunion just to go through that. At least IMHO. But hey James this is not meant to be a criticism just an opinion! You do a great job with this and as a relatively recent Oasis fan I greatly appreciate your work and insights on this remarkable group.

I was at the gig inParis, as a guest of madness.madness played again as Oasis's replacement. I was probably the last person to speak to Liam before they split outside of there circle.I had a Man City shirt on in the VIP area after coming back with madness from the other stage.I spotted Liam,and he spotted me with my city shirt on,we had chat about Pretty Green,I asked if there was any chance of backstage with them.This was maybe 2 hours before they were due to play,and he defiantly not pissed,after that I was chatting to Gem and Andy Bell.Then unfortunately the red is history, Liam came past me with security saying get me to the stage and noel going the other way to call the gig off.I have still got the VIP thing It 2009 on it Madness Rock in Seine.Can you imagine how much it would be worth if Oasis was on it.James some great content.

They’ll get back together one day. Maybe not for an album but at least for a one off concert or short tour. If Pink Floyd, a group who’s members (Gilmore and waters) truly hate each other were able to reunite for Live8, then there’s hope for oasis. At the end of the day they are brothers and they’ll never say it publicly or to each other but I’m sure they care about each other and one day they’ll talk again.

Noel is now the front man of his band. He won't leave his band to be a musician in Oasis and sing 2 songs. Both are doing great solo stuff. I think Noel would play few gigs with Oasis for the money and pleasure but that's it. Fantastic article! 😎🤘

Great insightful video that affirms a few things I’ve thought too, amazing work James - as always, the multiple sources really add a balanced narrative. I’m one of the few that isn’t desperate to see them reform. Oasis will always be my number one band, but they’ll never sound like Earls Court 95, or release a ‘Some Might Say’ again. Oasis were my band. I was obsessed with them in the mid / late 90s. If it were not for them I would never have picked up a guitar and ended up meeting my now wife through the band I was in because of them. Still, I don't think they should get back together now. It would not be the same now they are old men. Listen to the tunes they recorded when they were young and just enjoy it for what it was.

Absolutely well said everyone has their time in the sun,,how many bands who blew up in the beginning continue to make great music 30s years on its extremely rare, look at Paul wellers new stuff compared to the jam, style council, same with any band from that era stone Roses, pulp, the verve,,if they made new music today it would never live up to their original stuff,,let the new musicians have they're turn and enjoy the classic indie 90s for what it was, brilliant 👏

Why would anyone want to get Oasis back? C'mon lads, speaking from a hardcore Oasis supporter who've seen them all around the world several times, met them personally- Oasis changed my life. We have Definitely Maybe, Morning Glory, all the masterpieces B- Sides from that era, great stuff on Be Here Now, SOTSOG, HC and their fantastic B- Sides. We now all know that the last couple of records were not really historical albums to say the least. They have some nice moments but a lot of average stuff. You're probably not gonna get another epic material even if Oasis got back together tonight. Noel ran his course as a songwriter and Liam is way passed his prime and good vocal years. What do you expect to get from a reunion? Wanna be snugged in a stadium/field floor with no room to breath let alone stand just so you could hear Slide Away played by these guys again? Let me save it for you. You don't really need it. You want good music? be inspired by Oasis and go on to write music yourselves. Form your own bands and write your own songs. The world would much benefit from that and so would you, regarding the shitty situation the music industry is at right now. It is what is is brothers.

Honestly an Oasis reunion seems incredibly unattractive these days. In my opinion, there's no point if no new music is being made and Noel's drastic change in songwriting just wouldn't cut it. The days of Oasis as we knew them are long gone. It seems like the closest thing you'll ever get now is Liam himself, he seems to be Oasis' legacy and as Noel admitted himself, he's the one who keeps the spark alive.
