Another perfect soap Lisa. I particularly love your milk bottle. That black gold will be perfect for pumpkins next year. Absolutely brilliant idea for suspending your embeds because you are absolutely right about getting slight differences when pouring layers of the same colour.

@@IDreamInSoap Actually, I have a very important question regarding the sugar... I want to make a soap containing Thyme as one of the essential oils and I know that Thyme tends to accelerate like heck. None of the other oils are known for misbehaving that badly. Could the added sugar help me with that problem? Even a little bit would be a relief...
@IDreamInSoap
@IDreamInSoap 3 жыл бұрын
@@Asmielle HI, probably not I'm afraid, the small amount of sugar will not slow down a fast moving oil. I think your best best is soaping at cool temperatures, getting everything else prepared including colors mixed in if using. Just blend to emulsion only (not trace) and then put the EO in at the last moment and hand stir in.

Hi, I just loved how you give tips and especially about the scorching of oat milk, which makes sense if you use lye. My question is what oils did you use for this recipe since I know different oils play a key role in the ratio of lye etc. I'm new to cold process soap, you see. My first attempt didn't come out well but it's ok. Thanking you in advance.
@IDreamInSoap
@IDreamInSoap Жыл бұрын
Thanks so much Christina, unfortunately I don't share my recipe publicly as I spent a long time developing it and then had to pay to have it certified. I've trypically found that when recipes are just given away people never really try to learn what makes a good recipe and what doesn't and never pick up those very important skill. Try to start with a recipe about 40% hard oils and 60% liquid oils, think about what you want your soap to do, if you want slow moving you'll need more liquid oils and to use hard oils like lard, if you want bubbles to last you'll need to add castor oil, if you want a more creamy conditioning soap add some butters like shea or cocoa butter.

Lisa you are brilliant! I learned a few new tid bits from your video. Thank you so much for sharing and inspiring us. The trick for floating the embeds is genius. Why didn’t I think of that, hahaha. In your opinion, do you think adding a simple syrup to the liquid oils gives the same bubble effect as adding simple syrup to the lye water? I usually add my ss to the liquid oils only because I master batch my lye water and want to keep it cool. I didn’t realize that ss added to the lye water contributes to longer fluidity. Good to know!
@IDreamInSoap
@IDreamInSoap 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Jannalynn I think the sugar/syrup works the same no matter where you put it, it doesn't get affected by the lye, lye only affects fats. I just masterbatch my lye with it in and it's perfectly fine.

Hey Lisa just made an oat milk soap using this technique ,and must tell u it's come out so well . Only problem was I had used yellow Brazilian clay for colouring , and I think it really accelerated the trace. Want to try again with Iron oxide. Whats your opinion?
@IDreamInSoap
@IDreamInSoap 2 жыл бұрын
Clays can accelerate your trace a bit, you can use oxide, I tend to find you need to be careful with them as the can create a coloured foam and mark a wash cloth when the soap's used.

I have a question on the tubing and the star shapes what are they made of to not melt in the oven. Oh, I really need to look up jell phase and how long is that process and what dies it look like. As you can tell I’m new ❤
@IDreamInSoap
@IDreamInSoap 11 ай бұрын
Any of the embeds I make are made from cold process soap, so they won't melt, where as melt and pour embeds will. The embed moulds are made from silicone, so they won't melt either. Bear in mind when you put things in the oven you are not cooking them, you are putting the oven at it's lowest temperature, so that it's just a little bit warm then you turn it off when the soap goes in. Sitting your soap in a box covered with towels will do the same thing.

Hi Lisa, first off, I love your videos! Second, I'm absolutely convinced that in one of your videos, you made white soap without using TD. You used some other oil in place of olive oil, and it wasn't tallow (which is the suggestion I found on google). Am I imagining things? What was that oil? :D

My soap batter does go very white. I do always use olive oil, but it's the one that they call 'light in colour' olive oil

@@IDreamInSoap thank so much for replying! I did try researching a bit more and found that canola can replace olive oil up to 40%, so I tried that, and it really did come out a lovely creamy white. I love your content so much, thanks again! you're brilliant.

There are subtitles in Korean so it was easy to understand. Thank you. ! One question is, why didn't you add 100% oat milk instead of water, like in your beer soap video?
@IDreamInSoap
@IDreamInSoap 3 жыл бұрын
I'm so pleased the subtitles help. Of course you can add 100% and do it just like the beer soap, I was just trying to show 2 different methods for using things other than water in your soap, this is easier than dealing with freezing the liquid and then sprinkling on the lye. But yes you can do that for this too.

These are very cute. What is the benefit of the oat milk? I love that you sell the moulds you make.
@IDreamInSoap
@IDreamInSoap 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much. For soap we are not allowed to say any ingredients have any benefits, and in fact most don't as the saponification process destroys them, so when you hear people talking about the benefits of an ingredient it's almost certainly not going to be there in the soap. So we can use things like milk to make a more luxurious creamy bar, that will have a creamy lather.

Lovely soap as always, Lisa! You always have something new to teach me, regardless of how many videos I watch! 😁 I have a question ... How do you calculate the amount of batter required for the soap surrounding the embeds??? Thanks!
@IDreamInSoap
@IDreamInSoap 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much Jan. I know the amount of soap I normally need (oil weight) for the whole mould. Then I trim the embeds to their correct size and weigh them. As they are soap (not just oil) I then multiply them by my oil %. So for me 72% of my recipe is oil. and that tells me how much oil is used in the embed. Take that away from the normal oils for a whole loaf and that will leave you with what you need. Hope that makes sense.

Hi Chaya. I Mix my TD and AC at a rate of 1tsp TD to 3tsp of oil. I use both at a rate of 1 teaspoon per pound of oils, so when that's diluted it will be 1 tablespoon. I fully intend on keeping up with my videos, I have been helping Amy with the challenge club all last year it's just this year we decided to get some more people involved too so that we can offer even more help and support
