Depending on the success, views and likes each short gets, big studios will be able to choose the best ideas to invest in. It's a great idea that results in a win-win-win situation: We watch great shorts for free, Oats profits from ad revenue while testing ideas, and studios are able to choose which project they like best and got the best reception on KZbin and Steam.

It's Neil Blomkamp's studio, the director who made District 9 and Elysium. He founded Oats to produce shorts while testing these film ideas before turning them into features. Depending on the success, views and likes each short gets, big studios will be able to choose the best ideas to invest in. We watch great shorts for free, Oats profits from ad revenue while testing ideas, and studios are able to choose which project was the best and got the best reception on KZbin and Steam.

heartless2047 thank you for educating me. What about the global setting? it seems to me a bit illogical to create meta-world for each episode. also all their trailers tells us that the meta-world setting is global. And if this setting is shared among all episodes, then, as i stated earlier - this whole thing tells us ONE story about human rsistance, thus making it a movie-like experience. Yes, it will be nonlinear, but still a story, right?

So I just discovered this series on Netflix and just ten minutes in, I was so frickin excited that I have discovered a hidden gem of a show that I can enjoy the whole season. Episode two, Firebase. I figured maybe it's like a flashback to a certain history about these creatures only for my hopes to be shattered in episode three when I put two and two together and realized that these are short films compiled as episodes. You'd think you know disappointment but not like this. This episode and firebase alone is better than all the mainstream sci-fi shitflicks we have seen over the past decade or more. I don't understand what's Hollywood's deal with remakes of dead franchises or, ruining classic ones. Just take a leap of faith and give these new creative minds a chance. This episode and firebase had me more thrilled than anything scifi over the past decade and that says a lot

This happened to me yesterday. I was looking for Blomkamp's films, since I like his vision for scifi dystopias even when I don't like the movie itself. I didn't sleep well watching all the episodes, and I was thinking: why haven't i've heard of this existential horror scifi masterpiece before? Then I went to read people's reviews about it and most of the negative reviews couldn't make it past the third episode. Which is dumb since all the episodes are available at once. Granted, I couldn't finish the third episode myself either. When you combine unsettling and disgusting, I get too queasy. But most of the episodes after that keep going hard. With the power of hindsight, I think that episode 3 actually negatively impacted the show as a whole.
