The last 4 minutes show Butch has essentially all of the hallmark characteristics of a narcissist. He never apologises or takes responsibility for his actions, he assumes he is the best and should be worshipped almost.... but most telling is how he paints himself as the victim when he is called out on his bad behaviour, and that the people calling him out are raging arseholes or bullies or villains. That last point is one of the most common and disgusting traits of a narcissist. Assassinating the character of anyone that calls him out while portraying himself as a helpless victim to undeserved hate.

Butch Hartmann is so completely not the guy I thought he was when he was at Nickelodeon. I used to really like him and the shows he made. This post Nickelodeon Butch is actually borderline dangerous. When he talks about “people out to get him” it kind of reminds me of how Lance Armstrong would just sue the pants off of every detractor he had until his lies and everything else came crumbling down around him. By the time he admitted what we all knew to be true, that the only way he won all those Tour De France races was by using steroids, no one had any sympathy for him. He became the biggest laughing stock and disgrace in the sports world. I feel like it would take something huge (not sure what that is) for Butch to have to be forced into admitting, one that OAXIS will never happen, two everybody’s money is gone and they won’t be getting it back, and three that the other stuff he spews on Facebook for example is harmful and potentially dangerous to people. People like Butch have egos so big and are giant narcissist that their default response is to say that everyone else is wrong and out to get them. I’m just glad that the current generation of children do not have to be subjected to this awful man. I wonder how long he has been this way if Nickelodeon allowed him to work for them in one form or another for at least 20 years. The same holds true for Dan Schneider (although he’s a creepy guy and not a misinformation type dangerous guy) but that’s another long story for another day.

Put simply, in one of the later arcs involving an undersea kingdom called Fishman Island, the main bad guys are called the New-Fishman Pirates. Essentially, they're wannabe heroes that are actually evangelical terrorists that think they're invincible due to both their cause and power. Well, the way Butch is acting here is like one of their main operatives, a flail-wielding shark Fishman named Zeo. When he is ignored despite shouting loudly, he says he was using his inside voice. When stepped on, he says he headbutted their foot. And when openly stabbed by one of the heroes, he claims it to be his attempt to dull and crumble the stabber's sword. Naturally, just about everyone else (even his underlings) thinks he's full of shit, and even in his defeat (spoiler alert ahead), he rapidly ages like the other five leaders of this terrorist pirate gang, and claims he had, quote, "Aged himself on purpose." In short, he's a living embodiment of the phrase, "I meant to do that." You know shit's fucked up when an anime whose arc ended back in 2013-14 is still relevant in a world meant to be exaggerated.

I must admit both of them if I ever spoke to them would make me get pretty angry. Butch ruined the lore of Danny and Thomas, who once helped a little with Code Kyoto, treats both the target audience and everyone else like idiots, thinking he should only age up characters when he wants, not planning out his show’s lore well enough, changing character ages and relations (making Juleka and Luka twins for NO REASON) and ruining Chloe’s character and her progress in past seasons. I’m not a show writer but the fact that he doesn’t know how Fu’s love interest is aware of the miraculous, no flashbacks of Emile for 3 seasons, no indication of when Natalie found out about Gabriel being Hawkmoth, putting important info on Twitter, making Bunnyx’s timeline confusing as heck etc

1. Person trying to make something good and get called out for it. Butch doesn't consider anything to be valid criticism unless it's punching down apparently. Like if Stephen Hilgenberg said something, Butch will still not consider it valid and just say Stephen is being spiteful and petty. 2. I've been attacked for no reason. Yet, he won't say what their attacks are. There is always a reason, it's just a matter of if it's considered justified or not. 3. Butch claims the attacks that had no reason makes him second guess himself. So then did he just contradict himself and admit there's a reason, or is he just trying to appeal to our sense of empathy without giving any evidence for his attacks (Kinda like what people have been claiming he does and just did again)? 4. I didn't say anything wrong. Common con-artist defense. It's not about what the intent was but rather how he worded it. 5. I was taken out of context. Then provide additional context along side the attacks, yet again making claims without giving any evidence to make us believe. (I have a theory that Butch is so egotistical that he believes himself to be on par with Jesus and God, wanting people to believe him on faith alone) 6. They're evil cause they use me for clout and money. Just like Butch used god and faith to con money from people who need medical help. Just like Butch used Nickelodeon, various youtubers, and influencers for his own clickbaited videos (Remember the drawing popular youtuber in "my" art style such as pewdiepie for the thumbnail?). 7. You reap what you sow. Unless you're Butch apparently as he does the exact same things he is saying others do unto him.

It's funny how it's been more than 3 years and yet he pretty much releases the same trailer but without the copyrighted footage he can't use. Kickstarter's terms of service says that if a creator can't complete the project and fulfill rewards, these are the conditions the creator would have to meet in order to fulfill their obligations to backers: ☆ they post an update that explains what work has been done, how funds were used, and what prevents them from finishing the project as planned; ☆ they work diligently and in good faith to bring the project to the best possible conclusion in a timeframe that’s communicated to backers; ☆ they’re able to demonstrate that they’ve used funds appropriately and made every reasonable effort to complete the project as promised; ☆ they’ve been honest, and have made no material misrepresentations in their communication to backers; and ☆ they offer to return any remaining funds to backers who have not received their reward (in proportion to the amounts pledged), or else explain how those funds will be used to complete the project in some alternate form. (They've since changed their terms of service, but the previous terms of service applies to projects that launched before August 13th, 2020 so that's what I'm using as a reference.) I can't speak for the other criteria because I'm not omniscient, but I can tell you that he hasn't updated his Kickstarter page since January 25th, 2019. Pieguy gives more regular updates about Oaxis than the guy behind the project...something about that feels off to me. I don't know if there's enough ground to file legal action but Butch has technically been neglecting his obligations to his backers regardless of whether he's actually making progress on Oaxis. When he was talking about the money, the whole "these people spend all this time and effort, and they get like $5, or even $50 out of it all"... Ok, I'll bite. Let's say that Pieguy and everyone else talking about Butch's failures and misdeeds is just a nutso conspiracy theorist who's attacking him for clout and doesn't actually believe any of it. Just assume the very worst of Butch's critics. An unstated but implied premise of his argument seems to be that his critics, however dishonest they be, would be in fact be *more* moral/honorable/whatever if they actually made serious money off slandering him. If you make the argument "all this time you spend lying about me, and you've got nothing to show for it", then someone being able to say "No Butch, I *do* have something to show for it" is an ironclad rebuttal.

He has to big of an ego for my liking, he brags to hell and back about his 4 shows when one was really successful (successful for what it was but it was no SpongeBob) but was ran into the ground, another with mild success but dropped prematurely and 2 shows that were basically forgotten due to how bad they were, his shows have bland and predictable clichés and he doesn't grow away from that formula, he brags about being a top creator and compares his work to Simpsons (or was atleast inspired by it) but the Simpsons is still going on fairly strong and they never had to put themselves on life support multiple times (Poof, Sparky, Chloe) to try and stay relevant. Dude has no reason to have this huge of an ego and judging the way Christianity works (as he's super into that) he'd be sent to hell for his vanity and greed. I've lost all respects for him and his work, I can't even watch fairly odd parents anymore without being annoyed by the fact he made that show. Also 20 years for 4 shows is pretty pathetic

Here's what really really bothers me. I LOVE Butch Hartman's early work. Everything he did at Hanna Barbera/Cartoon Network and the early seasons of FOP. I think he's got some good ideas and made some cool stuff. But as he's gotten older and had more opportunities and fame and money, I think it's got to his head a little bit. He's got a big ego and thinks he's the best. I would have loved to see him come around and "redeem" (not really a great word but I can't think of a better one rn) himself and make some more cartoons and launch a cool streaming service. I have no problems if he wants to put Christian messages in there, I just want the cartoons to be enjoyable. But guess what, it's been 4 GOING ON 5 YEARS. We've gotten almost NOTHING. No updates and when anyone asks questions or critiques his sketchiness it's always deflected and the problem is the person asking. Great example of a hypocrite, which Christians are taught not to be. It's just a sad situation all around. The guy lets his ego get in the way of continuing to create some damn good cartoons.
