I thank and praise God for blessing the young men with such a beautiful talent! Each night before I go to sleep, I listen to OBA. They bless me, and although I can't understand Welsh, their voices, the amazing harmonies, and their unique sound, give my heart ease. When they sing in their language, you can see, hear, and FEEL the pride in their voices and demeanor. THANKS to ALL that have a part in presenting this choir to the world!!!

Tim conducting these lads is my definition of pure joy - just look at his expressions. Do you think when he founded OBA he had even the remotest of ideas of the impact it would have on the lives of the boys, or the impact THEY would have on the world. A phenomenon of joy and hope in a world where we need as much as we can get. Can't wait for more.

I will say this & I'm speaking for myself here. This is one of those songs that I really can't get out of my head & you want to know something here I don't want to get this song out of my head. Why? Because it's uplifting & several other words that I can't think of right now as we think. Then again that's me. For the record I'm WELSH & I'm for the USA too & this makes me "VERY PROUD TO BE WELSH."

As an American, I have heard this most beautiful hymn many times. Stylizing it for this wonderful group is perfect . I have read how this group of Young men started. Starting from nothing and no one. Only Boys Aloud certainly has filled a musical empty void.

This is an arrangement of a hymn tune long since used in evangelical churches in America, the title of which is "I Hear Thy Welcome Voice" attributed to L. Hartsough. What a lovely arrangement this is.

I envy you so much! Being from their hometown, you can go to their concerts, and I can only wish to hear them live. I would be so very, very happy and proud if I could see and hear them for real. As it is, I am deeply grateful to them and to all people here on YT who upload their videos for enjoyment of so many! Those boys are so amazing, and I listen their songs every day, because they fill my heart with joy!

One of my favourite hyms. Welsh boys from 14 to 19 from the valleys of South Wales. You dont have to understand the words just listen to the tune and enjoy the harmonies. I was told that it written by an an Ameircan-Welsh. Can anybody confirm this. The language is still alive in Wales and other parts of the world.

It was written in 1872 by Lewis Hartsough, a Methodist minister, I believe, born & educated in New York. I don't know his ethnic background, but the name at least isn't Welsh - maybe Dutch? The original English title is "I Am Coming, Lord". It was borrowed during the 1905 revival in Wales, translated into Welsh, & became such a favorite that people think it's Welsh. You can google the title for the words in Welsh & English.

Diolch yn fawr Lewis is a popular family name in Wales. My family name is popular in Wales but my Christian name is Scottish for no apparent reason. Maybe Lewis was his mother's maiden name. Anyway it is a beautiful hymn in Welsh. Thank you for the name of the composer.

I have to wonder how close the Welsh is to the English ... the last word of the refrain in both versions is "Calvary." The refrain in English is: 'I am coming Lord! Coming now to Thee! Wash me, cleanse me, in the blood that flow'd on Calvary.'
