This is the conclusion of Obama's speech at the church on Martin Luther King on King's Birthday in 2008, when the congregation sings "We Shall Overcome."

RFK..... ❤️ Some day we shall overcome. Your work won’t be in vain. The speech where RFK sings this and the crowd joins.. it brings tears to my eyes. Rest In Peace you beautiful brave soul. You could’ve been my great grandfather but to me you’re my hero. Robert Francis Kennedy.❤️

it moved me to tears - i've sung and heard this song many time over the past 40+ years - i never thought there'd be a black president of the u.s. in my lifetime -it's wonderful

As a boy, I was inspired when I read about Lincoln's quest to ensure national unity in protection of the guarantees of the Bill of Rights across the United States, regardless of place. I was inspired by Martin Luther King who sought equality, regardless of race. We can still achieve our national purpose.

Amen beloved ... we are NOT afraid of anything that would divide and destroy us. Nothing can divide and destroy us but fear itself.

@bailout4wallst I am a white person and was made to believe that we are all equal in God's eyes. I was alive during the lives of Dr. King and so many civil rights leaders. Dr. King, along with John and Robert Kennedy are my heroes. They all, no matter what went on in their personal lives, stood for human rights. No one was beneath them or above them. We were all the same, as it should be. One of the many reasons why I voted for President Obama, still love saying that, would still today.
