Your making him sound like a jealous person when dude is the opposite of that. He didnt hate tanjiro because he got to keep a demon family member. He hates him because of the headbutt and because tanjiro reminds him of what he and genya were like before their mom got turned into a demon. Sanemi probably thinks tanjiro is too gullible and kind in a world where sanemi feels you need to be ruthless to overcome the demons.

@MitchTsugi being a shallow person would be hating someone just because they headbutted them. It's far deeper than just "a headbutt". You can think what you want but I just don't agree. It is absolutely jealousy and anger that tanjiro still has nezuko, but sanemi lost his mother entirely. That's why he hates tanjiro so much more than somebody like Obanai does.

i think you're pretty spot on about Sanemi's and Genya's feelings at the end. it's extra sad because it's like a big miscommunication issue between brothers that were close and kind to each other before their shared trauma. but i think is great that the series is showing how complex the emotions and feelings of someone can be after a tragedy. Sanemi should definitely 100% not treat Genya like that, but sometimes in real life family relationships are not so wholesome like Tanjirō's. Tanjirō acts like the moral compass of the series and the goal a person should aspire to, the Hashira - while more powerful - are like a mess of unresolved trauma and toxic behaviour, and i think that's intentional. there are a lot of toxic relationships in Demon Slayer that i personally feel get portrayed really well, in all of it's complexities and tragic almost pointless ironies. i'm glad you rewatched 3x6 to better understand the characters. usually you have great reactions with amazing insight in the discussion/review and this was one of those. thank you so much, Alana. can't wait for the rest of the season! :)

Imagine killing your demonized mother who murdered your siblings to save your last surviving lil bro then got called a monster by your brother who you saved and live with it thinking it's all your fault. Later on you joined the DS corps to eradicate the demons so you can make you last surviving brother's world safe then you learned that your lil bro suddenly followed you and joined the corps so you push him away as much as you need even tho you don't like what you're doing just so he gives up then after all that harsh treatment and real talk you did your brother never listened then tells you that he ate demons just to gain their power never taking into consideration the trauma you suffered killing your demonized mother and here your stubborn little bro taking the risk and trying to be demon-like just so you can relived those trauma again. If I'm Sanemi and my lil bro who I've been trying so hard to protect never listened and does the unthinkable I'd rather make him blind too to remove him from this mess than him endangering himself following me in this path. You'll understand later on after this series end why Sanemi acts like this you'll probably might even agree with Sanemi at the end of this series due to the outcome.

Dont know why but in the anime they didnt include this but in the manga as soon as Genya says he ate demons it wasnt a panel of Sanami being angry but a surprised and somewhat horrified expression here they just made him look downright pissed

11:52 Genya uses different titles for his brother when he is with him and when he is with others. When he addresses his older brother to others, he addresses him very highly, but when he is with his older brother, he speaks like a child calling his older brother. You can see how much he respected and relied on his older brother.

As an older brother, Sanemi's actions feel like he just wants Genya off the frontlines where he's in the most danger. He's using any excuse to cripple Genya and get him sent to the butterfly mansion to recover. "you're weak, leave the corps and stop fighting" "you ate demons, I'ma mess you up so you can't fight anymore" etc etc. Is it messed up? 100% but fighting is all Sanemi really knows at this point so I think he's using violence to keep his last little brother safe. Even if it means crippling him, at least he'll be alive.

The reasons are: 1. Genya blamed Sanemi for his mothers death and they never recovered after that. 2. Sanemi hates demons, he had to kill his mother after she turned into a demon (So finding out Genya ate a demon and effectively became a demon, he is very disgusted) 3. The reason Sanemi wants Genya to leave the corps is because he doesn't want Genya to die. Since Genya couldn't use breathing techniques correctly, Sanemi was worried.

Sanemi doesn't hate Genya, never did, even after what was said to him. Being harsh and acting like an asshole is to keep Genya away. Sanemi wants to be hated so his brother leaves to live a peaceful life somewhere else. If he has to break Genya's body or make him permanently bling so he remains somewhere safe, Sanemi will do it. In a very twisted and wrong way, he's trying to protect Genya. There's another reason as for why Sanemi left Genya, but since it would be a spoiler, I won't say anything. You'll find out eventually

People who are hating on Sanemi so today I will answer them : 1. Why not Sanemi could have talked Genya to not join the Demon Slayer Corps ? Sanemi wanted genya to hate him because Sanemi thought that if he died one day then Genya would definitely take revenge for his brother, which Sanemi definitely not wanted. Sanemi wanted Genya to live peaceful live that's why Sanemi wanted Genya to hate him. 2. Sanemi was about to blind Genya, which is not justified at all ? Here my theory is, Sanemi just wanted to scare genya because i think Sanemi knew the whole time that tanjiro was there. But How can I so sure ? Because No one was able to find Nakime's eyeball in the entire series because it was made for the purpose of hiding, but Sanemi found it just by a slight sound. Do you really think sanemi wouldn't know tanjiro was there ? Come on Bro, He is literally Hashira. I think Sanemi was checking whether Tanjiro will save Genya or not if he attacks Genya. And when tanjiro came to protect genya, Sanemi sure that Tanjiro will protect Genya 3. Why Sanemi was beating tanjiro If Sanemi was sure that Tanjiro would protect Genya ? I think Sanemi was beating Tanjiro on purpose. Sanemi knew that tanjiro hate Sanemi ( But tanjiro didn't ) and tanjiro is good friend of genya. So, Sanemi was beating Tanjiro which make Genya convinced that Sanemi is a bad person and other reason is, Sanemi thought tanjiro will say bad things about Sanemi to genya which definitely made genya hate Sanemi. That's why he suddenly allowed genya to go to the same training as tanjiro. So that, Tanjiro can say bad thing about Sanemi. Sanemi lost everyone he care for like His siblings, Mother, His friend, His crush So he doesn't want to loose his only brother. 4. Becoming a demon slayer could also be Genya's personal choice so Sanemi was interfaring ? First of all, Being a Demon Slayer cannot be anyone's choice. All the slayer become Demon Slayer for some purpose. And Genya's purpose to demon slayer is the same as Sanemi, "To Protect and Care his Only Brother" which Sanemi not wanted at all.
