Glacial chasm would be pretty bad but mystic remora would be just as broken as always. It's job is to draw you 3-4 cards in the early turns before Obeka even comes down and you normally sac it anyway when the upkeep reaches 3+

People think shroud is a good idea for her, but a large portion of this deck is protecting or buffing her. Shroud stops that. Also be weary of any swords with pro red, that will stop most of the buffs that exist to pump her power.

@@PubStompMTG people are also using whispersilk cloak, and the hybrid dominus aura from the lorwym block. All are no bueno. I really like swiftfoot and the new boots from OTJ, I'm also a big fan of winged boots for protection and evasion.

​@@adamhall1340I do personally still think that Clout of the Dominus is fine as an emergency run since it does pack in +2 power for 1 mana, making it good for either firing off 4 upkeeps early (for instance, because you already had a Court of Emberth out, which solo already represents a 7 upkeep clock for the table). At 5 mana total, there's a good chance Menace will do enough since there's no visible haste to be wary of (unlike hasty equipments).

I find Descent into Avernus quite funny with her. If you get Obeka to 5 power, you get 5 upkeeps resulting in 30 damage to each player and generating that many treasures for everyone.

Pact says at the beginning of your next upkeep, so it would still only trigger once. You would still have to have the mana open to pay it though.

@@sambarney8244 Yes, that is true. But the main issue is that you're paying the pact cost on the same turn you're casting it rather than on your next turn, so you're basically eliminating the benefit of a free counterspell. (I guess this same issue happens with Sphinx of the Second Sun.)

I think she has time powers, this is why she interacts with how turns are played out. Her original “end the turn” effect is a jump forward, and this seems to be a momentary loop of the upkeep

So, there's lots of cards that can end you if you get too many upkeeps. But you can donate most of them so they technically can have some use (with the bonus that an Obeka with +1 power often primes them to end the player you donate it to). The actual worst card for Obeka, Splitter of Seconds, is Eon Hub which completely invalidates her ability.

Luckily for one ring and mana crypt you're in the perfect colors to break parody on their effects This isn't the perfect mana crypt deck by no means but of course you have to give and you have to take for some things. There are plenty of ways to utilize artifacts in CEDH in that includes sacrificing them for extra value ^^

Braid of fire is great - just combo it with things like aggravated assault or heart of bogardan.

​@@wchenful Aggravated Assault is actually not a combo with Braid of Fire. "Activate only as a sorcery" means you can't activate it during your upkeep, but even if you could, the wording makes it only work if the ability resolves during a main phase (this issue pops up with flashing in spells like Fury of the Horde).

You phrased it as you'd get as many upkeep triggers related to how much damage she deals. The wording on the card would only give you upkeeps equal to the number of times it damages your opponent.

I disagree, same as cold eyed selkie “whenever this creature deals damage to an opponent, draw THAT MANY cards.” You deal 7 you draw 7, same case with this busted overpowered card.

@@jonathantavitian7283 I disagree. Obeka is a relatively weak commander. It's 4cmc in 3 colours so you can't turbo it out very easily. It doesn't come with haste so it needs setup. It relies on combat damage to get an effect PLUS you need to have a relevant synergy in play as well. Even if a single connection guarantees a win, it would still be fairly mediocre.
