One of the biggest issues I had with the show was how cheap it felt. Yes the plot could use improvements, but what upset me was the sets they decided to film on. It felt like they filmed everything outside someone's backyard. I didn't feel like we were in a galaxy far far away, the Vader and Obiwan fight looked like a fight in my nearby dirt transfer sight.

I felt the same way. Especially when the stormtroopers were all lined up trying to shoot through the metal door to get to Obi Wan and the refugees. They didn’t even actually use lasers. Just little explosive effects. I actually said to my wife while we were watching it on the couch “this looks so cheap for Star Wars”. What a shame

And one of the LARGEST things that EVER set Star Wars away from all the other "space" things out there... ...Sets that look large and lived in. All these Disney things look like some renaissance fair had to erect decorations in 5 hours, made predominantly of spare pride flags laying around.

I prefer the Patterson cut - a guy who didn’t work for Lucas re-edited the series into a full length movie. Got rid of all the silliness and irrelevant stuff. It’s fantastic.

It's amazing the fanmade work, having logic within the show it's a breath of fresh air. -Lightsabers being deadly -The Empire being this bigger than life entity with the resources and manpower, being competent with logistics and security -Things happening not because the writers wanted or weird self insertion of them in the show. Honoring and respecting the source material -Basic physics done right Disney version seems like the early version compared to the fanmade production.

One of the reasons I was excited about Disney first acquiring Star Wars was that I thought they would spare no expense in terms of $$$ and hiring the best artists imaginable.... Its absolutely insane to me to see how many times they've dropped the ball with Star Wars and how semi-professional KZbin creators have fixed so many problems & mistakes... It absolutely blows my mind how a multibillion dollar corporation like Disney can be so incompetent.

The problem is Disney (and Hollywood in general) fully bought into the diversity, equity and inclusion racket and started hiring based on identity rather than merit. So now the industry is largely run and staffed by talentless diversity hires and activists and anyone who doesn't toe the line or fits the desired identity (ie: is a straight white male) is silenced or fired (or just not hired).

The Obiwan show had way more than just some "subjective issues", and there is pretty much no one more qualified to fix it than someone who literally already has experience working on Star Wars media.

The problem of visual poverty is only secondary. The main problems with this series, as with everything Disney does for Star Wars, are the lack of quality of the story, its lack of coherence and the lack of coherence in the behavior of the characters, especially Kenobi himself. So it's great to show that an experienced fan can improve the visuals, but it's the whole story that needs to be changed.

And even those who like it say it looks like anything but Star Wars. So it's not what you'd call "understanding of the source material".

​@@eros2144 You clearly weren't paying attention, and it shows In your ignorant comment. It was 'supposed' to be similar to the Vader v Ahsoka scene. It's the only creative scene in the series. In the Vader v Ahsoka fight, his left side is cut off, in the Kenobi fight, his right side is cut off. In both fights, either Kenobi nor Ahsoka managed to bring Anakin to the light. It was only when Luke removed the entire helmet, was Anakin reborn again.

I hope it improves the terrible stage direction like the other remake did with Vader just randomly not chasing obi wan for no reason in the other fan remake a trooper ask if they should pursue and vader says no, opposed to just noting, or when Obi wan and Vader meet and just say noting to eachother, or maybe when Reva just randomly knows where the secret jedi smuggler hideout is based on noting and then somehow teleports in front of leia who has like a 50 minute head start.

This would be a good addition, but if Disney get their way I wouldn't hold much hope of it being released, even with the special effects it still would not change the fact that the series still would revolve all around Reva, not about Obi Wan watching over Luke, Reva being impaled in the stomach with a lightsabre and surviving, storm troopers being knocked out by a little slap round the head (unless he adds some kind cgi of anvil to her blow), not being able to simply walk around a laser fence, a little 10 year old Leia being able to out run fully grown bounty hunters and also hiding underneath an oversized trench coat. 😂 But lets hold onto hope and pray for the best.

I believe he's already said that Reva was almost entirely cut. As well as the Leia chase scene is gone, I think they just get her right away as one would assume. The Plot should be different in many ways. It's been a couple years in the works.

there is already a fan film that was made that fixed a lot of these issues. They fully cut the entire luke skywalker section out and reeva dies when darth vader impales her. Also no order 66 flashbacks are placed until she speaks to obi wan through the gate and it feels more like a shock reveal and less of a whatever. They also cut the chasing scene with leia instead the guy sees her and instantly someone behind her puts a bag over her head. I don't think the film is available anywhere anymore unfortunately but it fixed a lot of issues. This however seems like it could be even better.

I'm so glad this man is taking the time to redo Kathleen Kennedy's visual nightmare of Star Wars Post George Lucas. It's too bad he wasn't giving the authority to rewrite some of the script. Get baby Leia out of there. Make Obi-Wan a little bit less of a wuss. As much as I hate saying that I get it, I get it. He didn't use his force powers all that much for like a 10-year. Or whatever years it was before this dumpster fire was released but they could have made him a little better. I have to say that last fight with Vader that he had was great. It was nice to see Obi-Wan back into form for at least what 5 minutes of the entire series. All Kathleen Kennedy cared about is a woke masterpiece and that's what she pretty much got. Kudos to the man redoing this. God bless you. I hope it is a high success. This is awesome that you're taking the time to do this. I can't say enough of how that makes me feel as a fan that someone's taking time to care about something changing the special effects in here and adding visuals here and there is a great way to improve this series overall by what 25%? He's changing the plot as much as he can. He's a skilled VFX artist and can reuse shots from a scene to create an entirely new context. For example, he used the shot of the Grand Inquisitor walking up to Reva on the ground, but now as a Jedi Temple Guard in the Jedi Temple.

I hope Kenobi loses the final lightsaber fight with Vader, who then collapses him under the pile of rubble, believing Kenobi to have died, which then sets up the surprise in Episode IV that Kenobi survived. It wouldn't make sense that Vader would both believe Kenobi to be alive and to also stop searching for him, which was how Disney ended their version of the show.

Pretty sure there’s some lore shit that Vader never bothered to be healed as the pain of his injuries made him more powerful, plus Padme was gone and all of his organic limbs had been cut off by this point. I don’t think he cared too much about how he looked anymore.

The Inquisitorious actually looks worse. You can tell its CGI. The original at least looked more like a building with texture. Having the planets in the sky also detracts from what's important in the scene. It also was raining and daylight, so you wouldn't see it anyway. As for the decapitations, there is a reason why its not done on screen. Increases the rating and that limits who can view it. Dismemberment has always been done off screen except for two exceptions: Luke and Vader's hands. As for the darkness, dunno about you guys but I didn't have that issue watching it on my pc. Must be a tv problem. The only issue I had with the series was the looks of the Grand Inquisitor and Fifth Brother. Rest of it was fine and felt Star Wars. Sure it wasn't flashy like the Prequels but it felt more like the Original Trilogy and that I think is what they were shooting for.

My problem was exactly the things that this project aims to fix! I just hope that they have spent time in finding the correct stormtrooper armor (in Kenobi and all new Disney series they've used the R1 version as a base, although some A New Hope stormtroopers in The Mandalorian) to keep it consistent, and also used the correct Vader suit. Even if they'd fix all the other things, it would seriously impact my experience if they didn't use the correct props! There are many people out there that would be willing to use their correct looking armors for this kind of project!

It's cool that he's improving the effects, but the major issue is the whole damn story was completely unneccesary. He's not able to edit out Reva, Baby Leia, Obi-Wan going from not being able to use the force to over the top video-game useage of it, and the fact that Obi-Wan and Vader should have never had a fight between RotS and ANH.

Obi Wan went back to the Death Star to rescue Anakin from the Emperor's captivity. ("my last master was kept in captivity" - C3PO A New Hope) Also to bring him back from the Dark Side. Not to overcome him in a "I will do what I must" confrontation. Let's make Star Wars people!

Reeva shouldn't have been a character. If you are going to include the Inquisitors then use them all to push the story. Leia shouldn't have been focused on as much as she was. This should have been Obi-Wan's story. The Kenobi novel was really good and that should have been the inspiration for the show.

He is taking out a lot of scene. The added ones are to fix things and add more context. For example, he is adding a scene where Obi-Wan is swimming to the inquisitors base. It's only a few seconds. Mostly stuff like that.
