For everyone saying TCW breaks continuity and doesn't make sense with the dialogue in the movies here's the explanation: General Grievous' amour & cybernetics we're now updated and I don't think he used the spinning arms to that extent on Obi before. So during ROTS that's why Obi-Wan looks shocked. Anakin and General Grievous have never met in the show so that they could have their meeting in ROTS be their first since their dialogue in the movie hints that it was their first, thus keeping continuity. Obi-Wan's line about, "this time we will take him together" is due to their last duel; Anakin and Obi we're dueling the Count and near the end, the Count was escaping on a leaving ship, so Obi had to stay behind to help force push Anakin onto the ship resulting in Anakin and the Count fighting with just them two in the end (the Count still got away). Another duel months before hand, had Anakin dueling the Count on Naboo and Obi-Wan didn't show up until the end. So Obi's line makes sense. Plus all those duels we're months before the end of the war, Anakin was closer to the dark side now and his hair was longer and Jedi robes were different showing time in the war has gone by. General Grievous always repeats lines like, "your lightsaber will make you fine addition to my collection" AND "trained in the Jedi arts..." line was never said before and now, as stated above, the General was now updated with better cybernetics (compare his S7/ROTS model with his earlier ones in the TCW). Plus he's based off of Sunday morning hero vs. villians cartoons and that's how the villians are with repetitive monologues etc. Ashoka wasn't in ROTS movie due to being on Mandalore and her coldness to Anakin helps make his transition seem even smoother than the movie alone. Ashoka and the events of ROTS actually blend together so that you can see them taking place side by side. Ashoka enters the war meeting with Windu and Yoda (during the I sense a plot to destroy the Jedi...scene) after Anakin leaves and Yoda delivers the line, "grave care we must take" and helps keep continuity that much further. TCW near the end further develops the outer rim sieges when Anakin tells Padmè the sieges kept them apart. The end of TCW S7 shows Anakin briefly on Coursant (begining of S7) explaining how she can pregnant. They also explain and show how Anakin could only briefly hologram contact Padmè here and there further explaining how in ROTS that he missed her and how she was pregnant. TCW S6 & S7 shows Palpatine grow in political power now controlling the banks (helps explain funding for the death star) and the war growing. They show Anakin begin to mistrust the Jedi after expelling his Padawan despite being a war hero and saving Windu (S7) and others. They show how order 66 works. The movies are made to be understood on their own and the shows give deeper meaning and context WHILE KEEPING continuity. George made the movies and helped write and develope the show. They flow, "their like poetry". Don't just hate to hate, TCW has some of Star Wars' best moments.

While 2003 TCW Grievous has a special place in my heart, I prefer canon Grievous. I think people fail to realize exactly what makes him such a potent adversary. I regularly compare him to Starscream from Transformers. The villainous second in command to the powerful leader. (Dooku, Megatron) They will fight if they have the upper hand, have no honor, will laugh when they are winning and will run when the tide turns. That to me is what makes a great villain. You can have your Dr. Dooms or Darth Sidious who are all powerful and those villains are good too, but I prefer the Grievous type. They aren't overpowered, they will fight dirty, be creative, and try to get an edge over their opponent. And when you think about the odds, its actually a credit to the general. He fights against clones bred for war, an entire Republic, and Jedi order who can use the force. How many warriors are really willing to stand and fight a jedi in lightsaber combat? And its not like he loses every fight, he holds his own against Obi Wan on multiple occasions, against Maul, Ventress, and has I think a dozen or so Knight kills, and straight up defeats master Koth. He turns the tide of the entire war and almost wins outright on numerous occasions and even says himself he doesn't care about the politics, he just wants to command the greatest droid army in the galaxy and wipe out the Jedi. That to me is an amazing villain. Not to mention he's just cool as fuck.
@cwylfre2 жыл бұрын
He also held his own against Depa Billaba and Quinlan Vos, defeating Billaba not once but twice on Haruun Kal and Mygeeto. On Raxus, Grievous managed to get the upper hand and immediately overpower Quinlan Vos when Vos initially ambushed the cyborg general to keep him away from joining in with Dooku. Vos took two lightsabers off the cyborg and then severed one of his hands. However, Grievous spread all four arms wide open, then charged and clashed in midair, knocking Vos back toward the wall. Not only defeating Jedi but Grievous actually gain the most kill than Count Dooku (2), Asajj Ventress (1), Maul (3) and Savage Opress (4). Currently Grievous had killed 16 Jedi so far, including a number of Jedi in the catacombs of Stalgasin hive which took place at the Battle of Geonosis. Many people overlooked what Grievous did and always underestimated him in TCW.

Honestly if you step back that's a read that can apply to 2003 Grevious too, I've long thought that that Grevious and rots Grevious make a nice bridge where what we see in the former is him at the top of his game, him from the perspective of his victims, him where he's made sure the deck is stacked overwhelming in his favour before the fight begins, which Dooku in that series makes sure to hammer into Grevious's head is the only way to go head to head with the elite order of jedi, wheras rots and his better moments in this series are him as he truly is deep down. Though I do think 3d clone wars brought him down a little TOO much at times, and his mustache twirling could become more repetitive and boring than hammy and fun.

Not trying to be rude but first of all, Dathomir is known to be very strong to the dark side. Other Jedi? oh you mean Kit Fisto who somehow defeated Grievous but couldn't defeat a group of MagnaGuard (reminder that the same droid who can never defeat or kill a single Padawan), but his former apprentice Nahdar Vebb can. Just like the beginner Ahsoka on the mission to Teth which literally make no sense. Obi-Wan in Arc Troopers and Grievous Intrigue, actually never successfully won the fight since he only brought him down by Force pushes him against the wall relies on using his Force Power but never bother defeat him by relieing on his lightsaber skill to fairly overpowered/defeat Grievous. According to *Star Wars Fact File* as it stated: "Obi-Wan Kenobi and Grievous often fought to a stalemate when they clashed, so equally matched they were as warrior. Eventually, though, Kenobi was to learn how to best the cyborg." which make sense because we don't see Kenobi best the cyborg using his lightsaber. Heck, in Grievous Intrigue, ARC Troopers and Crystal Crisis, Grievous was fighting Obi-Wan fairly, yet Obi-Wan here being dishonorable just throwing random crap at him. Grievous never really lose that often in duel/on-screen, there are duel where he fairly gain victory over the Jedi. According to the book *Star Wars: The Clone Wars Character Encyclopedia: Join The Battle!* (2021) as it stated Grievous clashes with the Jedi in fighting battles, defeating Obi-Wan Kenobi, Ahsoka Tano, Adi Gallia.
@Xena0852 жыл бұрын
Not to mention that grievous was not in good condition for duel when he fought Kit Fisto and still he killed his padawan and held his own against him. And the fight with i consider it a easy win for Grievous since at the start of the duel he literally send her on other way to the corridors and he would probably have killed get if wasn’t for the clones. And the rest of the fights was mostly Ahsoka that runs from Grievous and block some hit and she is able to escape only because she is able to push an arm on the other when he was about to kill her. But he still have three arms. So ahsoka basically survived to Grievous for luck

2003 Grevious was waaayyyy better, its him at his finest.
@kirotheavenger603 жыл бұрын
Grevious's main character goal is to murder main characters. Which means he's unfortunately destined to always fail on screen. "What the fuck is he doing?" Is a great description of pretty much all of Grevious's fights. He has four sabers, if he uses 1 to parry, 2 to attack, and 1 held in reserve there's sweet FA his opponent can do except run-away.
@dudearte3 жыл бұрын
@@kirotheavenger60 That because the show struggles writing Grievous character, they don't know what they wanted to do with him, he was thrown in two unnecessary episodes, always have him fight throw Plot Armor characters, rigged his opportunity to kill Eeth Koth in Grievous Intrigue but nope, Filoni would love to use Eeth Koth a little more in the future which never happen, until 2018 Canon finally gave Koth a role and later get killed by Vader. Also Filoni gave Savage Opress two newbie Jedi to kill including stealing Adi Gallia that Grievous originally killed. Filoni doesn't believe one-on-one Grievous could really take on a Jedi because he doesn't have the Force and can't wield it but yet his show had two non Force-sensitive Cad Bane and Pre Vizsla who only know the basic of swinging a lightsaber able to hold their own, never lost a single fight and made them more competent than Grievous which makes no sense. Just a reminder it took them 6 or 7 year to finally figure out to get Grievous portray right and that in Season 7. The only thing that did him justice are in the comic Son of Dathomir, Kanan: The Last Padawan and Age of Republic writer did a great job on Grievous there. Including outside the show where they brought some of his old references in Canon.

Sorry but it part of Canon still, Grievous didn't behead his rival because when Obi-Wan is capture, I believe either he wanted him to be torture or wanted him to be torture to give out information. It like how Obi-Wan put his cruiser in self-destruct so Grievous won't have the information.

Now that it has been established that Grievous and Obi had fought before episode 3, the dialogue "I've been trained in your jedi arts by Count Dooku" is a bit weird. You might think that Kenobi already knows that.
@cwylfre3 жыл бұрын
But wouldn't that be the same with Obi-Wan and Anakin fighting Dooku together in the episode "The Lost One" where the two Jedi Anakin and Obi-Wan engage Dooku together on the Pyke planet because in Revenge of the Sith this is what Obi-Wan said to Anakin when they're bout to engage Dooku in the Invisible Hand *Kenobi* said: "This time we will do it together" *Anakin* responded: "I was about to say that". Because of this you might think that Obi-Wan should've already know this, because the last time they tried this against Dooku, it have failed.
@sharp70793 жыл бұрын
@@cwylfre Yes You’re both correct, it’s the same with the ”my powers have doubled since the last time we met line” It fits in comparison to Padawan Anakin in 22 BBY but in the new clone wars it doesn’t
@reality84702 жыл бұрын
While not the original intention, you could argue that Obi Wan never knew Grievous was trained by Dooku so Grievous is still revealing something Kenobi didn’t know. As for the lines between Anakin and Dooku, they still hadn’t fought for around 6 months iirc by the time of Revenge of the Sith. While Anakin’s powers might not of doubled he was probably much more powerful, especially due to the outer rim sieges, and he’s also prone to overconfidence and exaggeration anyway. Finally the “take him together” line makes sense as Anakin and Obi Wan were not well coordinated in their fight with Dooku on Oba Dia.

Why do people say the 2003 clone wars series events weren't canon? YES Windu crushed Grievous, this is why he coughs so much and say, maybe yes, maybe i AM wrong, but Grievous still scared MACE FUCKING WINDU into not fighting him due to his ability in dueling, for those who don't know, Grievous can easily predict and counter (even mimick) jedi fighting styles, and since Mace mastered one of the strongest styles of all, when Grievous started mimicking it he ACTUALLY scared mace into no longer fighting him in fear he'd become "Unstoppable"
@themalcahtwinz47432 жыл бұрын
I personally believe mace crushed grievous lungs, but that takes place right before riots, and he's seen coughing in tcw 2008. Therefore I believe grievous already had lung problems, mace just made them worse
@cwylfre2 жыл бұрын
Well the Force crush can still happen in Canon, the sound of Grievous's cough in the show isn't as bad or worse as Revenge of the Sith, the cough is the (better) reason why he was so weak and lost to Obi-Wan Kenobi and even though the cough happens at the start of the war, he still gain many victory over Jedi such as Ahsoka Tano, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Adi Gallia, Depa Billaba and Shaak Ti, even overpower Quinlan Vos with one hands. Not only defeating but killing the most Jedi more than Dooku, Asajj Ventress, Maul and Savage Opress, killing 16 so far.
