Marco, this is amazing as always both in skill and the tutorial’s depth 👍 One thing you might want to think of is a good side by side for a before and after a highlight or a step. It would have been nice to see a side by side of your after airbrush highlight over your colored and then when you went back in to push the model further to show how different they were. Of course, it’s already an amazing video in depth with tons of information :) plus your super fun to listen to. So relaxing. I want to paint the moment I hear your voice.

Grazie mille!

That was an awesome tutorial! Thanks! I’d like to see you paint a squad or unit of regular rank and file models, to see how you would approach more “everyday” painting.
@MarcoFrisoniNJM5 жыл бұрын
I have a couple of videos like that about my Warcry warbands: 10 models on 5 hours 😉
@rastamann20095 жыл бұрын
@@MarcoFrisoniNJM Yes, I love those and they're the major inspiration for what I'll do with mine - I particularly love the paint scheme for the Iron Golems and have learned a lot about painting skin from you, but they're still skirmishing warbands and we tend to lavish more love into those given that they're the whole force, no? :) Would you paint a squad or a regiment for a whole army the same way? I guess you could since you get amazing results with a speed that for me is quite unattainable - your precision with the airbrush is dreamlike, and it will take me a long (years) time to get there (I will try though :))
@MarcoFrisoniNJM5 жыл бұрын
@@rastamann2009 oooooooh ok ok understood! Yeah my process it's almost the same, maybe cutting some extra corner, but it's definitely something interesting for a video... Maybe putting the accent on the quantity of models to paint at the same time!
@rastamann20095 жыл бұрын
@@MarcoFrisoniNJM Another reason for my request is that many of the rank and file models like imperial guardsmen and ork boyz are simpler in detail than the current skirmish models that they do, so they must present different challenges, I think :) Putting the accent on the quantity of models is a great way to approach it as well, yes! Thanks
3 жыл бұрын
That is beautiful!! One question is lingering on my mind though: Are you darken your basecolours, before applying the light (to simulate night resp. darkness)? And if yes, with what?

Hey Marco A question: did you use oils (maybe a wash) before moving to the wet pallet? Thx so much for your work and help.
@kurogiza5 жыл бұрын
Thank you Marco, clear and elegant video about a complex topic! Question: you used an extension of the sketch method, just instead of one light you add two? What I haven't seen is the first step of basic basecoating, so that the colored light interacts with the base colors of the objects. This is super helpful!
@MarcoFrisoniNJM5 жыл бұрын
😊Thanks buddy!!! I used a fast sketch in the first step to give a quick representation of it's natural colours, the real important steps are when you start applying the lights working in transparency to naturally merge the tones

This is outstanding again Marco, I look forward to your videos more than anything else on KZbin! A question for you. You mix matt varnish into the blue to reduce the shine, but is there a reason you don't just varnish the whole model at the end after your finish and unify the finish on the surfaces?
@MarcoFrisoniNJM5 жыл бұрын
Thanks a million 😁😁😁!!! I don't use varnish at the end for everything exactly because I don't want to unify the different finishes I have on the model; that's one important source of contrasts and visual interesting on the model and with a coat of varnish you loose everything!
@Chazzmingle5 жыл бұрын
@@MarcoFrisoniNJM I had a feeling that might be the case, but it's so impressive that you are so aware of the finish of each product and medium when you use it. Is everything just somewhere between fully matt and fully gloss, or is there other types of finish to paints?
@MarcoFrisoniNJM5 жыл бұрын
@@Chazzmingle 😊 You have the satin option that's in the middle of the two extremes (usually varnishes comes in three formulations, Matt, satin and gloss); as example it's really good for skins that are a bit shiny because of their natural oils but not glossy
