In my short 18 years of witnessing to Mormons, I have included imputation to my gospel message as a way around the faith vs. works debate. I tell them, "I am saved by works....however, the work is not my own. They are Jesus' works given to me." Thus, expiation AND imputation make the best gospel presentation.

@@newtestamentchristian6932 Nobody believes God "believes for us". Rather, he gives us faith. I am not saved but I want to be so badly. I don't want anything of this world. I don't want money, fame etc. I want Jesus. I believe in Calvinistic theology as I grew up going to a Dutch reformed church. I think I am very well taught in theology but I am a "jerk". My mind wants to be saved but my heart and soul doesn't have anything that indicates any grief over my sins or the Holiness of God. I feel so lost. I am depressed. I want God but feel helpless as I have tried everything I can on my part to be saved. I know that I can't save myself but I can repent and try to believe, pray and read God's Word etc. Please pray for my salvation

My understanding of "Justification by Faith Alone (Sola Fide)" means thru the Grace of God, "FAITH" (not work) must come FIRST "alone" before "GOOD WORKS" (Charity of Love/Deeds) that are pleasing in the sight of God, begins/starts... It can not be WORK alone first before FAITH or both Faith and Work thru Grace justifies us at "the same time"... Our Faith Alone in God must come "FIRST" to each individual, then through our Faith in God... the FRUITS of Good Works (Charity of Love/Deeds) will manifest or reflect on us thru the grace of God in Christ Jesus as "EVIDENCE" to our Faith... Yes, it is true... the Bible said, "FAITH without WORK is a dead faith"... but it did not say,... "WORK without FAITH is a dead work."... Christ said, No works/deeds of man can be justified in the sight of God unless Faith thru Grace of God must come first to man... and that Faith is thru HIs Son, Christ Jesus... after that, our Charity of Love/Deeds begins/starts throughout our life in Christ and that is where our DEEDS will be judged by God on His Judgement Day (Rev. 20:12 / Roman 2:6/14:10-12)... Therefore, FAITH "alone" must come FIRST before Good Works (Charity of Love/Deeds) begins/starts for those who truly repented and believe in God... Can not be the other way around... Amen.

@@Mkvine Sorry, but that is not how FAITH in Christ works, ...Yes, it is true that FAITH must/should come first, but it does not come by our own initiative only but by the "Grace of God"... After we receive our FAITH in Christ thru God's Grace... How?... thru Belief in Christ, Repentance, and Water Baptism in the Name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit... now, is the time, to practice our FAITH in Christ, by following/obeying the Law of Christ (Teachings and Commandments) with the guidance of the Holy Spirit... For a Faith without Good Works/Acts/Deeds, like the Acts of the Apostles, is a "DEAD FAITH"... We who have Faith in Christ thru God's Grace must/should BEAR FRUITS, if not, the Gardener (God) will cut off (remove) any Branches (Believers) attached to the VINE (Christ) that does not BEAR FRUITS after been PRUNED and throw them to the fire (hell = not saved)... Amen. The VINE (Christ) can not remove any branches attached to the VINE (in Christ's Hands) but the Gardener (Father God) can... Amen.

First off I am not a Catholic and if some of this is incorrect I apologize but I just don't understand why he twists some scripture and glances over others that show Abraham's works of obedience of faith. Not works of deeds of the law which is talking about the flesh. Paul said the whole purpose of his ministry, the gospel, was to bring about obedience of the Gentiles. Genesis 15:6 And he believed in the Lord; It does not say he believed what God said to him at that moment. Why is this important? He tries to say Abraham was blessed only by his faith which is a lie. We are called, created for good works of obedience of love that must be with our faith. We cannot be saved if we continue in sin. Gal 3, the gospel of Christ crucified was preached to Abraham. That was his faith. Genesis 22:18 And in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed; because thou hast obeyed my voice. Romans 4:... but who also walk in the steps of that faith of our father Abraham,... Again, he skips right over Abrahams obedience because he believes in the nonsense that God only sees Christ's righteousness not our own and that we are incapable of righteousness. 1 John 3:3 And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure. 4 Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law. 7 Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous. 1 John 3:12 Not as Cain, who was of that wicked one, and slew his brother. And wherefore slew he him? Because his own works were evil, and his brother's righteous We must walk in righteousness to be righteous before God. Our past sins are forgiven by Christ's righteousness. We are a new creation and we walk in righteousness. We walk in the righteousness of the law as Christ walked. Rom 8. Never on our own for without him we can do nothing but it is not his righteousness, John 15. To think that we are justified once and forever is nonsense. It is not once and done, it is a walk, it is a narrow and hard path to follow and work out. Paul was not just talking about our sanctification, he was talking about our salvation. Only the doers of the law shall be justified. He blew right over that also. Only those who do not sin and walk in obedience shall be saved. Read Ezekiel 18 if you think you are not condemned by your sin or that you cannot fall off the path. Read Heb 3 and 4 if you want to know what the Sabbath commandment is really about. It is about falling from grace. It is a warning.

Notice that Abraham is reckoned righteous before he was ever circumcised or had done any other work/act of faith in Genesis 15. This was a reckoning. Not an infusion, not half-now half-later. Right there his belief was reckoned, it was finished, a done deal. That doesn't mean that we aren't to continue walking in faith afterward, but perfection is impossible. But to say that keeping our salvation is entirely up to us afterward completely nullifies Christ saying that He would lose none of His sheep. If it was all up to us, He couldn't guarantee that.

The word "fact" is an interesting word to use in your question to me. There actually aren't any proven facts that the bible has contradictions in it as it has been the most scrutinized book of all time by both believers and non. The bible isn't a book that you can open and read as you would an encyclopedia, its a Spiritual book that is God communicating truths to those who want to hear and understand them. To read it with YOUR understanding of what and how things should go is missing the point of hearing from Him. I would ask you "how you handle the fact that this Bible causes masses of peoples lives to be transformed by something not tangible or seen to the point they would die tragic deaths for. Would you be willing to die for your belief?

@@OUGMJacquelineSmith What you last wrote is similar to something I might have said a few years ago. I used to think there were no contradiction or serious errors in the Bible. How could it have them, it is God's word. Bu, that is simply not correct. There are significant contradictions and errors all through the Old and New Testaments. It is a fact that the Bible says the Hebrews were slaves in Egypt. It turns out, this is not true. Jewish archeologists have tried for a long time to evidence of Hebrews in Egypt. There is none. There is also zero evidence they ever wandered in the desert. I just did not happen the Bible claims Abraham had camels, but camels were not domesticated until much later. In the New Testament, it claims Quirinius was the governor when Jesus was born, but it was actually S. Sentius Saturninus. The Romans kept impeccable records; we know about this mistake in the Bible and there is zero reason to think there was a large census at this time. The Romans would have recorded it. It just did not happen. There are more mistaken factual claims in the Bible. I suggest reading about them from non-biased sources. Look them up, don’t take my word for it and don’t just go to some Christian website where they try to debunk these claims. Actually do the honest research for yourself.

But actually, a human being _is_ responsible for what they _do_ in the eyes of God. A sinner is not off the hook for sin just because they say they believe. No obedience? No good deeds? No righteousness? No cooperation? What utter non-sense. Jesus said: _Keep my commandments._ Those who do not keep the commandments will be cut off from the vine and thrown in the fire. Luke 6: 46-49: "Why do you call me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ and do not _do_ what I say? As for everyone who comes to me and hears my words and _puts them into practice,_ I will show you what they are like. They are like a man building a house, who dug down deep and laid the foundation on rock. When a flood came, the torrent struck that house but could not shake it, because it was well built. But the one who hears my words and does not put them into practice is like a man who built a house on the ground without a foundation. The moment the torrent struck that house, it collapsed and its destruction was complete." The speaker is building up listeners on an empty doctrine. They are being set up for destruction. 34:14 Jeff - you are making fun of Latter-day Saint missionaries for being "trained" while you are doing that very thing with your congregation.
@ianyimiah
@ianyimiah 4 жыл бұрын
From my perspective Jeff wasn't making fun of LDS missionaries. Let's say he was making fun. Even if he was, it was not directed at the fact that they were trained. Jeff was primarily talking about the contents of what they are being trained in. And that is different from objecting to any kind of training at all as you are suggesting.
@emilywilson9142
@emilywilson9142 4 жыл бұрын
@@ianyimiah Since you nor he have never observed how they are trained you don't have any business criticizing their training. When I was a missionary in the 90s we were "trained" to learn and discuss the context and background of scriptures that we used while teaching. And, again, please note that this sermon is "training" the congregation to evangelize, which is really no different that missionary training.
@ianyimiah
@ianyimiah 4 жыл бұрын
@@emilywilson9142 Again, the point of contention is not about being trained. There is nothing inherently bad about being trained. However, issues arise when the contents of the training is faulty and not biblical. It is not Biblical to teach that we are justified by works. That is the major issue here. I am aware you may not agree with me on this and if that is so you are indirectly doing the same thing Jeff is doing. Because you'd have to say that it is wrong of Jeff to train his people in these teachings you don't subscribe to; which is exactly what Jeff did by pointing out the faults in Justification by works.

If he was mocking the fact that they are being trained, then he’s mocking every human that ever lived since we are all trained/being trained in something. So is that his argument? We should call him a hypocrite right? Well he wasn’t saying that. He’s talking about the content they are being trained in. If you’re a Mormon then I understand your frustration here. But as a Christian we should always be ready to approach our Mormon friends with the true gospel.

We are not saved by faith alone. Faith alone salvation is a heresy which can not be found anywhere in the Bible. Jesus taught the necessity of the Sacraments for Salvation in Mark 16:16 and John 20:19-23 and John 6:50-59. Challenge yourself to find just one protestant in the New Testament Church that was saved without a Catholic Sacrament. The model for Salvation can be read in Acts 2:36-42. You will see here that people heard the Gospel preached by an authentic Bishop of the Catholic Church. These people believed upon this Gospel because of the authenticity of the one who preached it - however, they knew that they were not saved by their faith alone. So they asked the Bishop, St. Peter, what else must be done and St. Peter told them that they must REPENT OF THEIR SINS AND RECEIVE THE CATHOLIC SACRAMENT OF BAPTISM for the forgiveness of their sins and then - and only then - will they receive the Holy Spirit. That is the simplicity of the Gospel, and then you can see that about 3000 people were saved this way, and then they DEVOTED themselves to the MASS which is the Apostles’ teaching and fellowship, to the Breaking of Bread and the prayers. Only Catholics DEVOTE themselves to the Breaking of the Bread and to the prayers of the Mass. This is Biblical Salvation. Amen, and may God bless each of you on your journey of FAITH.

35:13 Jeff - why do you think you need to make Latter-day Saints appear to be stupid and ignorant? This is a very self-serving monologue for you. I'm sure the videos of Latter-day Saints that do well in your conversations don't make it to your KZbin channel.

He didn't do that. At all. In fact he stopped the sermon, rolled it back and slowed it down for his OWN congregation. Certainly he wasn't showing them how "stupid" they are either. He was explaining that MOST of the LDS he goes and talks to cannot tell him context of James. That's His experience. If you take that to mean that those individuals are "STUPID" then you are in the wrong place. Pastor Jeff isn't saying that and neither are we. Many people are mislead. Many others are ill informed. Many are suffering from lack of interest. Many have obstacles in life. We aren't here to lay "STUPID" on anybody. Each of us has started in a place we are far from now, by grace of God.

Peace be with you Protestants do not seem to know what Faith is. Faith is listening to Jesus Christ and doing what he teaches. St Paul tells us How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher? And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things! But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Esaias saith, Lord, who hath believed our report? So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. (Rom 10:14-17) So to have faith we must listen to Jesus And Jesus tells us And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say? Whosoever cometh to me, and heareth my sayings, and doeth them, I will shew you to whom he is like: He is like a man which built an house, and digged deep, and laid the foundation on a rock: and when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently upon that house, and could not shake it: for it was founded upon a rock. But he that heareth, and doeth not, is like a man that without a foundation built an house upon the earth; against which the stream did beat vehemently, and immediately it fell; and the ruin of that house was great. (Luke 6:46-49) So to have faith we must do as Jesus says Jesus also says Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father. (John 14:12) This is why scripture tells us. Though he were a Son, yet learned he obedience by the things which he suffered;And being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him; (Heb 5:8-9) Faith is not a transitory thing that we have one day and are saved but something we must maintain throughout our lives through our love and obedience to Christ as he tells us. And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold. But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved. And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come. (Matt 14:12-14) I hope this helps for unless the Gospel we teach has as abiding in the teaching of Christ it is false for it does not have God. Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son. (2 John 9) For faith to provide Grace it cannot be alone, it must be accompanied in the Hope of Christ promises and the Substance that Hope requires Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. (Heb 11:1) That substance comes from Love through which our faith must be worked. For in Jesus Christ neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision; but faith which worketh by love. (Gal 5:6) Without Love no matter how much faith we have we are nothing. And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing. (1 Cor 13:2) He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him. (John 14:21) Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him. He that loveth me not keepeth not my sayings: and the word which ye hear is not mine, but the Father's which sent me. (John 14:23-24) God bless you

@@MrKev1664 Those aren't Christians then. If someone is truly saved, the Spirit will enable them to live a life that is in obedience to God's law. However, that obedience is not a means to salvation, but the natural outpouring of salvation. This also though does not mean anyone is perfect in this life. Sanctification is a lifelong process, but it SHOULD be a process that is visible.

MrKev1664 interpret this for me please? I’m thinking about becoming a Christian “Now to the one who works, wages are not credited as a gift but as an obligation. However, to the one who does not work but trusts God who justifies the ungodly, their faith is credited as righteousness. David says the same thing when he speaks of the blessedness of the one to whom God credits righteousness apart from works: “Blessed are those whose transgressions are forgiven, whose sins are covered. Blessed is the one whose sin the Lord will never count against them.”” ‭‭Romans‬ ‭4:4-8‬ ‭

William Fuentes so say a word that was not in scripture for hundreds of years that would confuse a lot of believers? Doesn’t add up, especially since the word didn’t exist before Luther’s translation. Today, the Catholic Bible still doesn’t include it and other Protestant bibles didn’t include it until the late 19th century.

First of all Luther is not the pope for Protestants. Second, I don't see many bibles translating it like that especially when we have so many manuscripts available. Third, we are not confused. The context of the text allows for an interpretation consistent with what we believe about justification. @@kyz8390

William Fuentes I cant and won’t speak for Christians before Luther’s translation and what they thought of grace versus faith versus works. The reality is though many modern translations include faith “alone” in Romans. Does that emphasize what perhaps was a more true translation of the Greek? Maybe I’m not sure, but before him that word wasn’t there.
